CELEBRATIONS - WEDDINGS II

Martin-Gurley

Cynthia Diane Gurley and James Anthony Louis Martin were married April 13, 1996, at Cave Spring Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Elmer officiating. The bride was presented by her two brothers, Lynn Gurley and Tony Gurley.

Matron of honor was Mrs. Tonya G. Cox, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Mindy J. Eisner, cousin of the bride, Vickie L. Woolwine, friend of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Amanda Gurley, niece of the bride. Flower girl was Kayla Gurley, niece of the bride.

Best man was James E. Martin, Jr., father of the groom. The groomsmen were Jason Martin, brother of the groom, Eddie Cox, brother-in-law of the bride. Ringbearer was Tyler Gurley, nephew of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Margaret Gurley and the late Jack L. Gurley, Sr.

The groom is the son of Deborah B. Martin and James E. martin, Jr. Both are employed by Moore's Lumber and Building.

The bride and groom would like to thank family and friends for making their day special.

Moore-Draper

Lewis Crozier Draper and Robert Tracy Moore were married May 11, 1996 in St. John's Episcopal Church. The officiating clergymen were Rev. Thomas P. O'Dell and Rev. William Frank Allen. The reception was held at the Shenandoah Club.

The matron of honor was Tayloe Solee Piggott, sister of the bride of Victor, Idaho. The bridesmaid was Paige Moore Holter, sister of the groom of Mililani, Hi.

The best man was Kenneth Edward Mitzkovitz from Alexandria, Va. The groomsmen were Richard Curtis Dowd of Raleigh, N.C., Brad Mitchell Freedman of Alexandria, Va., Joseph Lawrence Holter of Mililani, Hi., Walter Michael Pjetraj of Fayetteville, N.C., Jeffrey Allen Roberts of Indianapolis, In., Michael Kevin Robertson of Sunrise, Fl., and Perry Alan Tucker, Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C. The crucifer was Charles Evant Hunter, IV of Roanoke.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Kienle of Norfolk, Va., and Mr. William Bernard Draper, Jr. of Roanoke, Va. She is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke, and Mary Baldwin College in Staunton. She is employed by Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Tracy Moore of Fayetteville, N.C., is a graduate of E.E. Smith High School, Fayettevbille, N.C., and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C. He is employed by Vistakon, Inc.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke after the wedding trip to Aruba.

Newton-Cummings

Mary Beth Cummings and James Thomas Newton were married May 11, 1996 in First Baptist Church, with Dr. Charles G. Fuller, Minister, officiating. The reception was held in the Church Atrium.

Karen Hartman, friend, served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Karen Pendleton, groom's sister; Susan Bryant, Margaret Swann, and Jennifer Ferrell, friends.

James A. Newton served as his son's best man. The ushers were Neil Cummings, bride's brother; Matthew Pendleton, groom's brother-in-law; Terry Barton and Ben Hartman, friends. The guestbook attendant was Julie Martin.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph G. Cummings of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, and Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. She is employed by Roanoke City Department of Social Services.

The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Newton of Vinton. He is a graduate of William Byrd High School in Roanoke and Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. He is employed by Norfolk Southern Corp. in the Information Technology Department.

After the wedding trip to Orlando, Florida, the newlyweds will reside in Roanoke.

Pugh-Brewer

Tracy Joan Brewer and George Coleman Pugh were married May 11, 1996 in Our Lady of Nazareth Church, with the Reverend Larry Mullaney officiating. The reception was held at The Jefferson Center.

The matron of honor was Jodi Meador, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Beth Degaraff and Rene Norman. Flowergirl was Maia Pugh.

The best man was C.E. Pugh, III, brother of the groom. The ushers were Mark Underwood and Craig Chrisman. Ringbearer was Parker Chrisman. Guestbook attendants were Mr. and Mrs. David Bailey. Programs were distributed by Taylor Chrisman and Preston Chrisman.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry W. Brewer of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Radford University.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude E. Pugh, Jr. of Radford. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech.

The newlyweds will live in Seattle.

Riegert-Stephenson

On Sunday afternoon, April 21, 1996, the marriage of Deborah Marie Stephenson and Charles Howard Riegert took place at the Tantallon Yacht Club on the Potomac in Fort Washington, Maryland.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Sally Stephenson of Winchester, Virginia. The bridegroom is the son of robert and Fay Riegert of Buena Vista, Virginia.

Clifford Mark Riegert was his twin brother's best man.

A reception followed at the Yacht Club.

The couple are both employees of Backyard Boats in Alexandria, Virginia.

After a trip to a West Virginia resort, the couple will live in Lorton, Virginia.

Robertson-Conner

In a two o'clock ceremony, Saturday, May 11, 1996, at First Evangelical Methodist Church, surrounded by friends and family, Tracy Lynn Conner became the bride of Robert Deaton Robertson, Jr. The Reverend Floyd B'Hymer officiated the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Virgil and Colleen B. Sarver of Elliston, Virginia, and the late Wayne A. Conner. She is a graduate of Shawsville High School, and is employed at Lewis-Gale Medical Center as office manager for Dr. Rebecca Tanner.

The groom is the son of Gertrude Robertson of Salem, Virginia, and the late Robert D. Robertson, Sr. He is a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School and Virginia Western Community College. He is employed at Lewis-Gale Medical Center as a Data Specialist.

The bride, given in marriage by her stepfather, Virgil Sarver of Elliston, and her uncle, Gerald Conner of Farmingdale, New Jersey, wore an elegant tea length mocha and ivory gown of chantilly lace with venici lace forming the portrait collar. She carried a lace fan , with bible, surrounded with white and mauve colored roses.

The matron of honor was cousin of the bride, Catherine Gordon of Rocky Mount, Virginia. Bridesmaids were daughter of the groom, Kimberly Robertson of Salem, Virginia; friend of the bride, Gwen Hartwell of Largo, Florida; god-child of the bride, Nicole Hartwell of Largo, Florida. Whitney Robertson, also a daughter of the groom, was junior bridesmaid. All attendants wore mauve colored dresses and carried lace fans with white and mauve colored roses. Cousin of the bride, Amanda Patton of Roanoke, Virginia, was guest register attendant.

The best man was the groom's brother, Ron Robertson of Virginia Beach, Virginia. The groomsmen were stepbrother of the bride, Ron Sarver of Seattle Washington; friend of the groom, Lee Mathena of Salem, Virginia; cousin of the bride, Adam Sutphin of Rocky Mount, Virginia. Scott Johnston of Salem, Virginia, was junior groomsman.

The couple will live in Salem, Virginia, after a honeymoon trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

The couple would like to thank their families for all their love and support. Also thanks to Gary at MJDesigns, Virginia Bridal Outlet, School House Fabrics, Mister FormalWear and the church for all of their assistance in preparing this ceremony.

Sarber-Wisneski

Linda Marie Wisneski and Michael Fenwick Sarber, both of Charlotte, were married at 1:00 p.m., April 13, 1996 at St. Patrick Cathedral.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irving F.. Wisenski of Charlotte. She is a graduate of East Mecklenburg HIgh School and Virginia Tech. She is a Advertising Marketing Assistant with The Charlotte Observer.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd J. Sarber, Jr. of Roanoke, Va. He is a graduate of Oak Hill Academy and Virginia Tech, and is a Funds Management Specialist with NationsBank.

The bride's sister, Julie Wisneski, was maid of honor. Lori Thompson, also a sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Deborah Walsh, Melissa Jones and Elizabeth Colamarino. Nancy Ware kept the registry.

The groom's father, Lloyd J. Sarber, Jr. was best man. Groomsmen were Lloyd J. Sarber, III, Edward Bartlett, Bryan Neal and Christopher Sharpe.

After a honeymoon trip to Anguilla in the British West Indies, the couple will live in Charlotte.

Smith-Leftwich

Miss Michelle Ann Leftwich and Mr. Troy Jeffrey Smith were married Saturday, the eleventh of May, nineteen hundred and ninety-six, at six o'clock in the evening, at Salem Baptist Church. The candlelight ceremony was performed by Pastor Lew Bennett and Reverend John Mark Cress, uncle of the bride. A program of wedding music was performed by Elizabeth Dechent, harpist, Gerald Pope, trumpeter, Robert Sinclair, organist and Hugh Dalton, vocalist.|

A dinner reception was hosted by the brides parents at the Fitzpatrick Hall of the Jefferson Center, followed by a dance with the Tony Haworth Orchestra.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lewis Leftwich of Roanoke, Virginia. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lewis G. Leftwich, of Roanoke, Virginia and Mr. and Mrs. John L. Cress of Vinton, Virginia.|

Mr. Smith is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Smith of Salem, Virginia. His grandparents are Mrs. Betty Smith and the late Mr. Alfred N. Smith of Rocky Mount, Virginia and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cadreau of Grand Forks, North Dakota.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father, and given in marriage by her parents. Michelle wore a gown of illusion, lace and Austrian crystals with a detachable cathedral train that she custom designed. She carried a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis.

Miss Thais Hickman served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Martha Bachman, Jennifer Carver, Suzie Lea, and Mary Beth Trout. Miss Lisa Stilley served as a greeter, Miss Tabatha Martin was the guest book attendant, and Miss Susan Kalafut was the gift attendant. Sylvia Dunkley-Hedge was the wedding director.|

Mr. Smith's best man was his father, Stan Smith. The groomsmen were David Jordan, Robert Leftwich, II, brother of the bride, Craig Miller, Scott Nelson and Dr. Gary Roach.|

Mrs. Smith graduated from Radford University and is employed with Hanover Direct. Mr. Smith graduated from Virginia Tech and is employ ed with Campbell Construction & Development Company.|

A rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents was held at Montano's International Gourmet. A wedding day bridesmaid's luncheon was held poolside at the home of the bride's parents, hosted by the bride's mother and the maid of honor.|

After a wedding cruise to the Caribbean, the couple will live in Salem, Virginia.|

Stine-Pickle

Miss Kimberly Katherine Pickle and Mr. Brian Richard Stine were united in marriage on Saturday, May 11, 1996 at The Southern Planbtation in Missouri City, Texas.

Kimberly is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Bill Pickle of Roanoke, Va. and the granddfaughter of Mrs. Eileen Adcock of Boones Mill, Va.|

Brian is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Richard Stine of Rustburg, Va. and the grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Kanaskie of Coal Township, Pa.|

Miss Elizabeth Blaine of Houston was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Amy Pilcher of Marion, Il. and Charlotte Perry of Alexandria, Va.|

The best man was Mr. Russell McKean of Houston, TX and groomsmen were Mr. Ken Schwartz and Mr. Ken Manning, also of Houston.|

Kimberly attended Cave Spring High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Roanoke College. She is currently employed by Crawford & Company as a casualty claims representative. Brian received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Houston and is currently employeed as the marketing director for Continental Court Reporters.|

Brian and Kim would like to give a spacial thanks to everyone for making their wedding weekend so very special.|

Following a honeymoon trip to Greece and Egypt, the couple will reside in Houston, TX.

Townsend-Swope

Laura A. Swope and 2nd Lt. Philip Scott Townsend were married May 11, 1996, in Jackson Memorial Hall, VMI, with Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. The reception was held in Moody Hall, VMI. Matron of honor was Tina Lowry Tucker. Bridesmaids were Laura Lee Rihl, Kim T. Little and Christi Dillon. The father of the groom, Andrew Philip Townsend, served as best man. Ushers were Brian James, Travis Wells and Kelly Little. Stephanie P. Franz attended the guestbook. The bride wore a white satin gown and carried a bouquet of mini carnations, roses, daisies and ivy. The bride is the daughter of Mr. Fred C. Swope, Lexington. She graduated from Sweet Briar College. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip A. Townsend, Roanoke. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute. The newlyweds will live in Kitzingen, Germany.

Wilson-Craighead

Tisha Gwen Craighead and Brian Kyle Wilson were married May 4, 1996, at New Haven Baptist Church, Floyd, Va. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Leon Wood. The reception was held in the church fellowship hall.

Matron of honor was Mrs. Tammy Frost. Bridesmaids were Miss Rose Hudson, Mrs. Vicki Craighead, Miss Debra Hunley, Mrs. Mary Ann Barbour. Flowergirl was Miss Amanda Wilson.

Kevin Wilson, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Leslie Wilson, Mr. Chris Craighead, Mr. Brent Craighead and Mr. Scott Craighead. Ring bearer was Mr. Jacob Nolen.

The guest book attendant was Mrs. Marlene Mohler. Mrs. Mary Alice Bowman was pianist. Soloist was Mr. Mark Waldron. Wedding director was Mrs. Elaine Wood.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Craighead, Callaway, Va. She is a graduate of Franklin County High School. She is employed by the Uttermost Co., Rocky Mount, Va.

The groom is the son of Alice Hamblin, Pembroke, Va., and R oger Wilson of Copper HIll, Va. He is employed by the Uttermost Co., Rocky Mount, Va.

After a wedding trip to the Poconos, the couple will reside in Copper Hill, Va.
