Clark anniversary
Lewis D. and Edna C. Clark celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Easter Sunday, April 21, 1996. The couple was married Easter Sunday, April 21, 1946, in the Vinton (VA) Baptist Parsonage by the pastor, the Rev. J. Roy Robinson. She is the former Edna Cregger, daughter of Mrs. Marie C. Cregger and the late Charles Roy Cregger of Vinton, Va. Lewis' parents were the late Dan and Lucy Clark lifetime residents of Mount Pleasant, Roanoke County. They have two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Jo and Joe Anthony, and Kathy Clark; and three grandchildren, Kathryn and Jon Anthony, and Zachary Lewis Clark. Lewis served 43 months in the U.S. Army during World War II with duty in the China, Burma, India (CBI) area. He took early retirement from Roanoke Swift Homes. Edna is a Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and has been employed by Francis Realtors for the past 36 years. Lewis and Edna are active in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where they have attended the past 50 years. Both appreciate the love and support of their families and friends these past 50 years.
Martin anniversary
V.C. and Allie Martin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 11, 1996 with family and friends. The celebration was held at the J.M. Wainwright Disabled American Veterans Hall in Christiansburg. The Martin's were married May 13, 1946 in Christiansburg by the Rev. L.C. Duncan. Mrs. Martin is the former Allie Yates of Shawsville. Their children and spouses are Rick and Jenny Martin, Judy and Charlie Long, and Sandra and Vernon Martin. Their grandchildren are Stacey, Jeremy, and Kerri, and great-granddaughter, Katie.
V.C. and Allie are retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant and reside in Montgomery County.
Sanders anniversary
James and Thelma Sanders celebrated their 50th anniversary on May 5, 1996. The celebration was held at the Sanders residence and was hosted by their children. The couple was married April 30, 1946, in Roanoke County. They have lived in Salem for 45 years. Mrs. Sanders is the former Thelma Jean Arnold. The couple's children are Ellen Reno, Waynesboro, Diane Sanders, Salem, Jimmy Sanders, Salem. They have four grandchildren. Mr. Sanders is retired from McClung's Lumber and Mrs. Sanders is retired from Roanoke Dress.
Thomasson anniversary
Hubert and Zella Thomasson of Goodview, recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married on April 24, 1926 in Franklin County.
The celebration was held in their home in Goodview on April 28, 1996. In attendance were their eight children and spouses, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren
