Two fast-food restaurants near Tanglewood Mall were robbed at gunpoint over the weekend.
A man walked into the Kentucky Fried Chicken on Electric Road about 11 p.m. Saturday and forced a cashier to hand over money from the restaurant's safe, Roanoke County Police Sgt. Richard Braford said.
About an hour and a half later, a man wearing a mask that covered his mouth and nose entered a Wendy's near the KFC and jumped across the counter, Braford said. The robber made a cashier give him money from a cash drawer and from the safe.
No arrests had been made by Sunday, but police believe the incidents may be related, Braford said. In both cases, the man brandished a long-barreled handgun. The robber made off with an undetermined amount of cash.
