BRUGH, Paul Gish, 76, of Moneta, formerly of Salem, passed away Saturday, May 11, 1996. He owned and operated Brugh's Auto Paint & Body Shop for 24 years and was a World War II Veteran where he served in the Navy. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Laron Camina and a brother, Joe Brugh. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Iva Willett Brugh; two daughters, Donna Brugh Miller and husband, Del of Moneta, Janet F. Brugh of Charlottesville; three sons, Daniel P. Brugh and wife, Bonnie of Salem, Bob Brugh and wife, Phyllis of Ferrum, Joe Brugh and wife, Janice of Christiansburg; granddaughters, Danyel and Paige Brugh of Salem, Jennifer Brugh of Christiansburg; grandson, Jason Brugh of Columbia, Md.; sister, LaVelle Robertson of Vinton; four nephews. He loved life and family, fought bravely against death and died with dignity. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 1996 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem. Interment will follow in East Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
CALDWELL, Phyllis Christine, 70, of Roanoke, was called to be with her Lord on Mothers Day, May 12, 1996. Mrs. Caldwell was a member of Ninth Street Church of the Brethren. She will be missed in this life by her faithful husband of 51 years, Charles E. Caldwell Jr., and her family, including, Ed, Sherry, Crysta l and Logan Caldwell; Charles, Diane, Christopher, Zachary and Sarah Caldwell; Linda, Scott, Erin and Christen Garner, and Brenda, Steve and Kayla Walker. Brother and sisters include Roy Thompson Jr., Roberta Lavinder, Doris Caldwell and Elizabeth Poff. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's North Chapel at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, with the Rev. John Huffaker and the Rev. Graham Sowers officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel after 12 noon Monday, where the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m
EVERETT, Howard S. Jr., 48, of Christiansburg, died Sunday, May 12, 1996 at his home. He was an employee of Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Blacksburg. Surviving are his wife, Sharon L. Everett; one sister, Patricia Sue Baig, Annapolis, Md.; one brother, William Perry Everett, Berwyn, Md.; a stepdaughter, Shelli Denise Meade, Christiansburg; a stepson, Brian Keith Spouse, Gladstone, Va.; four grandchildren. The body has been cremated with memorial services to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers it was Howard's request memorials be made to a Children's charity of ones choice. MILLER, James A., (``Carry""), of Pilot, gave his dear Mother the greatest gift for Mother's Day when he departed to meet her in Heaven on Saturday, May 11, 1996, at Lewis-Gale Hospital. Born on July 22, 1937, he was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Pearl Miller. Survivors include his sisters, Marie Phillips and Merl Flinchum; brothers, R. C., Billy and Sonny; special friend, Ricky Linkous; an uncle, James Barker of Bluefield, W.Va., and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, from the Christiansburg Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Richard Kingrea, with interment in Sunset Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Monday, and the family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Harold O. and Geraldine Nofsinger, Collinsville, Gene and Mary Nofsinger, Pawleys Island, S.C., Ralph and Linda Nofsinger, Union Hall; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Gregory V. PAGTULON-AN, Simeon, 67, of Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, died Saturday, May 11, 1996, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Leonorica; six daughters; six sons, and seven grandchildren, all residing in the Philippines. POWERS, Opal Addington, 76, of 1001 Lisa Drive, Church Hill, Tenn., died Saturday morning, May 11, 1996, after an extended illness. She had lived in Vinton, Va., for many years, but had resided for the past three years at the home of her sister. She was a retired house parent from Freewill Baptist Family Ministries in Greeneville, Tenn. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Roanoke, Va.. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elster Clayton Powers; one daughter, Diane Powers; her parents, John W. and Jane Greene Addington; two sisters, Maxine Addington and Pauline Addington, and one brother, Herbert Addington. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Brucie Ramey of Coeburn, Va., Mrs. Jewel Sweeney of Church Hill, Mrs. Betty Hogo of Saltville, Va., and Mrs. Lois Muller of Bristol, Tenn.; one brother, Leonard Addington of Coeburn, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport, Tenn. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. SHAW, Clinton W. Jr., (``Wally""), of Falls Church, formerly of Roanoke, beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton W. Shaw Sr. of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, May 11, 1996 at his home.
