Restore a train

The Virginia Museum of Transportation is continuing its Restoration Program for 1996. The museum needs volunteers to join in the renovation, restoration and beautification of some of the museum's most significant artifacts.

Restoration projects include locomotives and rail equipment, automobiles, trucks and small transportation items. No experience is necessary.

The next scheduled ``Restoration Kick 1996'' days are May 25 and June 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 342-5670.

Auditions for kids

Auditions for Playmakers Playhouse's production of ``You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown'' will be held May 18, 4 to 6:30 p.m., at the playhouse, University Hall, Blacksburg.

Parts are available for pupils in grades 1 through 8. Auditionees should bring a prepared song with sheet music. A pianist will be available. For more information, call 382-7322.

Music festival

The Second Annual Wayne C. Henderson Music Festival and Guitar Competition will be June 15 at Grayson Highlands State Park, Mouth of Wilson. The deadline for registration is June 1. Competitions include flat- and finger-pickers and old-time, bluegrass and Irish bands. For more information, call 579-7092 or 579-7712.

Hosts needed

Host families are needed for foreign exchange students, ages 15 to 18. The students, presented by the Youth Exchange Service, provide their own spending money and have medical coverage.
