D-DAY VETERANS TO RECEIVE MEDAL

The Normandy Regional Council of France will present medals today to 29th Division veterans of World War II who took part in the battle for Normandy but did not receive a medal during the 50th anniversary ceremonies in France two years ago.

Donald McKee of Baltimore, past national commander of the 29th Division Association, and Alvin Ungerleider, first vice commander, will present the medals on behalf of Rene Garrec, president of the Normandy Regional Council, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem.

The ceremony is at 1:30 p.m.

Veterans who previously received their medals in France will still be eligible to apply for a certificate suitable for framing that is a companion to the Normandy medal.
