An Elliston man was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of arson in connection with a fire that destroyed two homes last month.
Donald F. Manspile, 46, also was charged with threatening to burn.
Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Lt. W.B. Tolley said Manspile had a dispute with the person who lived at 790 Brake Road, and threatened to burn down the mobile home.
Five days later, on April 24, that home caught fire and set the house next door on fire as well. No one was in the mobile home at the time; a mother and child did escape from the house next door unharmed.
Manspile was released on $25,000 bond. Arson and threatening arson are felony charges. If convicted, Manspile may face a five- to 20-year sentence for each county.
