IN BUSINESS 3 BANKRUPTCIES FILED IN ROANOKE THREE BANKRUPTCIES WITH BUSINESS AFFILIATIONS HAVE BEEN FILED IN THE U.S. BANKRUPTCY COURT FOR WESTERN VIRGINIA AT ROANOKE. ONE OF THEM IS A PERSONAL BANKRUPTCY THAT THE COURT LISTED AS A BUSINESS BECAUSE IT HAS COMMERCIAL CONNECTIONS AND COULD BE OF INTEREST TO BUSINESS CREDITORS AND CUSTOMERS.

Gerald Edward Crowder and Virginia Nicely Crowder of Roanoke, who said their businesses are restaurants and real estate development, filed for reorganization and protection from creditors. They listed assets of $929,764 and liabilities of $1,991,158. They trade as Lee's Famous Recipe of Covington, Dairy Queen of Clifton Forge, Cliftondale Village, Crowder Electric, Crowder Enterprises Ltd. and Dry Creek Inc.

Lucas A. Shelor of Roanoke, whose business is mobile radio service and sales, filed for a wage-earner plan for repayment of debts. He estimated both assets and liabilities at more than $100,000.

Donald Edward Bland Jr. and Pamela Ann Bland of Check filed for liquidation with assets of $22,550 and liabilities of $72,917. They said they had self-employment income but did not specify the source.

Firm announces stock split

Optical Cable Corp., a Roanoke manufacturer and marketer of fiber optic cables has declared a two-for-one split of its common stock, in the form of a 100 percent dividend. It will be paid May 31 to shareholders on Wednesday.
