The bride is a daughter of Bob and Norma Hand of Bristol, Virginia. She is a graduate of Radford University and is employed as an Accounting Manager of The Bissell Companies, Inc. The newlyweds will live in Greensboro, North Carolina after the wedding cruise to Cosumel.

The matrons of honor were Mrs. Sheila Beckner, aunt, and Mrs. Brenda Simmons, aunt. The bridesmaids were Priscilla Gillespie, Kimberly Gillespie, both daughters of the bride, Ms. Helen Tusing, sister of the bride, Miss Hollie Beckner, cousin, and Miss Diane Oyler, sister of the groom. Flowergirls were Miss Stephany Beckner, daughter of the groom, and Miss Samantha Simmons, friend.

The bride's gown was victorian sheath accented with pearls and sequins. She carried a cascade bouquet of ivy with ivory roses.
The bride is a daughter of Maggie Sage of Roanoke, and the late Earl B. Lucas. She is a graduate of Liberty High School, Bedford and the College of Health Sciences, U.Va., Roanoke. She is currently a student at Virginia Western Community College and is employed by Lewis-Gale Clinic.
The bridegroom, son of Lillian Oyler of Roanoke, and the late Oliver H. Beckner, is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School, Roanoke, and is employed by Consolidated Roofing, Inc.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Edwin Robert Blake of Glen Rock, N.J., and the late Mr. Blake. He is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., and is employed by Braishfield Associates.
The newlyweds will live in Somerset, New Jersey, after they honeymoon to Grand Cayman Island.

Lora Michelle Bryant and Carl David Gilmore, Jr., were married on Saturday, April 20, 1996, at Colonial Avenue Baptist Church. The Reverend Branan Thompson, Jr., officiated the double-ring ceremony. A reception followed at the Holiday Inn-Tanglewood.
The bride is the daughter of Norris and Marcella Bryant of Salem. She is the granddaughter of Rosa Beckner of Roanoke.
The groom is the son of David and Doris Gilmore of Bluefield, W. Va.
Lora was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Kim Dandro of Christian sburg served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Missy Pyle of Covington, Stephanie Reid of Roanoke, Kara Shepherd of Christiansburg and Melissa Sledd of Roanoke. Lonnie Phillips served as attendant of honor. Hope McFarland and Ashleigh McFarland served as flower girls.
Gary Gilmore of Roanoke was best man. Groomsmen were Ron Gearheart of Roanoke, Mike Kirell of Roanoke and Anthony Nunley of Bluefield, W. Va.
Rose McFarland read a scripture during the ceremony. The wedding music was performed by Joyce Tenmant and Shannon Frost was guestbook attendant. Melissa Nunley of Bluefield, W., Va., directed the wedding, and the cake was cut by Emma Lou Grisso. The rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's parents held at the Steak-N-Ale on Friday evening.
Lora is a 1993 graduate of Virginia Western C.C. in Radiologic Technology and is employed in CT/MRI at Lewis Gale Medical Center. David is a 1993 graduate of Bluefield State College, Bluefield, W. Va., in Radiologic Technology and a 1994 graduate of Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Nuclear Medicine Technology. He is also at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Nuclear Medicine.
The couple honeymooned in Negril, Jamaica, and will reside in Roanoke.

Miss Christine Kirby and Mr. Brownie Harris were married Saturday, April 27, 1996, at 4 o'clock in the afternoon at their home in Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. The garden wedding was officiated by Reverend Keith Thompson of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington. The bride is the daughter of Margaret and Don F. Kirby of Maineville, Ohio. The groom is the son of Evelyn and Selden Harris of Radford, Virginia, and the grandson of the late Edgar D. Bourne of Wytheville, Virginia.
Susanne Key of Cincinnati, Ohio, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Carole Harris of Shallotte, N.C., Robin Rogers of Charleston, S.C., and Sophia Alma of Toronto, Canada. Flower girls were sisters Laura and Elizabeth Key of Wilmington. The ring bearer was Alexander Ventriglia of Wilmington. William M. Rogers of Charleston, S.C., served as best man. The groomsmen were J. Dale Key, Barry L. Arnette, and Denis L. Ventriglia of Wilmington. The wedding was directed by Madeline Schulte, Florence Schuerer of Amana, Iowa, and Lucille B. Horne, aunt of the groom, of Glade Spring, Virginia.
The wedding music began with ``Mairi's Wedding'', piped by bagpiper, Kirk Rose of Wilmington. During the ceremony, celtic and classical harpist, Mary Catherine Rose of Wilmington, performed ``Amazing Grace''. The recessional was led out by ``Scotland the Brave'', piped by Mr. Rose. Immediately following the ceremony, the reception took place under a white tree tiered French tent in the back garden. Baroque and Romantic music was then performed by a cellist, a flutist, and a violinist arranged by David Oh.
Christine Harris is a graduate of Ohio State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design and Art History. She is a Regional Editor of Better Homes & Gardens Special Interest Publication, and Production Manager/Stylist of Brownie Harris Photography in Wilmington. Brownie Harris received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communications Arts & Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. Mr. Harris is a nationally prominent corporate/advertising & editorial photographer and specializes in corporate annual reports for the country's leading corporations. Mr. and Mrs. Harris have recently renovated a turn of the century brick warehouse and opened a photography studio in historic downtown Wilmington to serve the Wilmington and Southeast photography markets.
After the honeymoon in Charleston, S.C., the couple will reside in Wilmington.

Lisa Renea Manis and John David Hartman were married April 6, 1996, in Forest Hill Baptist Church, Maryville, Tenn., with Rev. Ken Link officiating. The reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Maid of honor was Jennifer Johnson, sister of bride. Bridesmaids were Aimee Servais, Melody Johnson, Wendi Stinnett and Debbie Harmon. Flower girl was Amanda Hartman, niece of groom. Wesley Hartman, Sr., father of groom, served as best man. Ushers were Wesley Hartman, Jr., brother of groom, Chad Yount, Chris Andrews and Matt Hines. The guestbook attendant was Ashley Myers. The bride wore a gown of white silk shantung, styled with a jeweled neckline, and short cap sleeves. The fitted bodice wa s embellished with pearls accented with a floral ribbon lace that extended to the basque waistline. The full skirt featured a cathedral length train. Veil was crystal and lace headband with cascade fingertip veiling. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink and bridal white sweetheart roses, gardenias and ivy. The bride is the daughter of Jack and Frances Manis, Maryville, Tenn. She graduated from Maryville High School, Maryville, Tenn., and from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tenn. She is employed by Rogersville City Schools as a kindergarten teacher. The groom is the son of Wesley and Sandra Hartman, Roanoke, Va. He graduated from William Byrd High School, Vinton, Va., and from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va. He is employed by American Electric Power as an electrical engineer. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke, Va., after a wedding trip to Hilton Head, S. C.
Holt-Shirley
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Horton Holt were married Sunday, May 5, 1996 in a small outdoor ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Cannon. The Reverend J. Allie McNider officiated.
The bride is the former Amy Lynn Shirley of Roanoke. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Shirley. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Holt of Roanoke.
Matron of honor was the bride's sister, Mrs. Pamela Cannon. Mrs. Stephanie Farmer, friend of the bride, served as her attendant. Miss Lauren Cannon and Miss Kendall Cannon, served as their aunt's flower girls. Miss Julia Gilliam, cousin of the groom, and Miss Megan Cannon, niece of the bride, served as special helpers.
The groom's father stood by his son as his best man. Mr. Joseph Lewis, best friend of the groom, served as a groomsman. Mr. James Cannon, brother-in-law of the bride; Mr. Joseph Teague, cousin of the groom; and Mr. Michael Cannon, friend of the bride, served as ushers. Mr. Richard Baxter Gilliam, cousin of the groom, served as ringbearer.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyn Atkins, of Atkins Photography, were the photographers of the ceremony and reception. Mrs. Abbe Toler, friend of the bride, provided beautiful violin music for the service. Mrs. Susan Lewis, friend of the bride and groom, directed the event. Mrs. Rean Sherwood, aunt of the bride; Miss Emily Sherwood and Mrs. Cynthia Sell, cousins of the bride; and Ms. Suzanne Wright, friend of the bride; all served at the reception. The wedding cake and groom's cake were created especially for the couple by Mrs. Connie Jenkins, friend of the bride. The family of Mr. and Mrs. John Cannon, graciously opened their home to the bride and her attendants to prepare for the ceremony.
The bride is a graduate of Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Va., and Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. She received a degree in Education and is employed with Roanoke City Public Schools. The groom, a graduate of Cave Spring High School, Ferrum College and East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn., received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He is employed with The Roanoke City Fire Department.
After a wedding trip to South Ca rolina, the couple is residing in Roanoke.
The couple would like to thank our families and our friends for the tremendous amount of love, support, and prayers that have been expressed to us.
