Cronise anniversary
Rhudy and Thelma Cronise celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends on May 5, 1996, at a surprise reception held at the Fincastle Fire Dept. Bldg., hosted by their daughters. They were married May 4, 1946, in Vinton. She is the former Thelma Mary Francis Flowers of Bedford Co. They farmed in the Wheatland community of Botetourt County until 1992, when they retired and moved to Bath County, where they now reside. Their children are Amy Sexton of Hot Springs, Va., Linda Hatley of Albemarle, N. C., and Darlene Broughman of Salem, Va. They have three grandchildren.
Maxey anniversary
James W. (J.W.) and Edith D. (Bob) Maxey of Roanoke celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 11, 1996. J.W. and the former Edith Divers (both of Franklin County) were married May 11, 1946, in Rocky Mount, Va. After raising their three children, Michael, Janet and Betty, J.W. retired from Roanoke City's Water Dept. and Edith retired from Halmode Apparel. They have three grandchildren, Pam, Tom and Jill, and one great-grandson, Colston. To celebrate their golden anniversary, J.W. and Edith attended a small family dinner where they received a gift certificate for a vacation in Myrtle Beach, S. C.
Stewart anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Sterling R. Stewart recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were joined together in marriage on March 18, 1946 in Chgayan De Oro, Mindanao Philippines. Mr. Stewart is retired from the military, and Mrs. Stewart worked at home raising their six children. A reception was held in their honor at the Huckleberry Inn in Christiansburg. It was hosted by their children and their families.
