BALLARD, Randall Bryan, 91, of Christia nsburg, died Monday morning, May 20, 1996 at his home. He was a native of Peterstown, WV and is survived by his wife, Adele A.O. Ballard; a son, Randall Ballard, Chapel Hill, NC; a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Mark Kageals, Salem; a granddaughter, Sherrie Bishop; great-grandchildren, Tommy and Ashley Bishop, all of Roanoke; 2 step daughters, Alleta O. BROWN, Mary Mozelle, 79, of Vinton, passed away Monday, May 20, 1996. She was retired from Burlington Industries in Vinton and was a member of the Vinton Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, John Ira Brown; son, N. Cline Brown of Vinton; granddaughter and her husband, Laurie K. and Jack Tanselle of Chicago, Ill.; five si sters, Loreda T. Cundiff and Vera T. Tyree both of Rocky Mount, Reba T. Scott of Roanoke, Zelma T. Callahan of Vinton, Dean T. Shell of Roanoke; sister-in-law and her husband, Stella and Guy Foster of Roanoke; also a number of nieces and nephews. BURRIS, George W., (``Red""), 70, of Radford, died Monday, May 20, 1996 in a Winston-Salem, N.C. hospital. He was a co-owner of the former Sutz-U Market and the Bear Market. Surviving are his wife, Jean D. Burris, Radfor d; a son and daughter-in-law, George L. and Diane Burris, Radford; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mabel and C. M. Hale, Kingsport, Tenn., Irene and Tom Morrell, Bristol, Tenn.; a sister, Anna Belle Looney, Bluefield, W. Va.; a sister-in-law, Beverly Burris, San Antonio, Texas; one brother, L. M. CAVINESS, Harvey Edward, 68, of Max Meadows, died Monday, May 20, 1996 in the Radford Community Hospital. He was born in Carroll County, the son of the late Jesse James and Martha Jane Puckett Caviness. He was a retired Superintendent with Silicia Products. CLORE, John W., Jr., of 1218 Windsor Rd., Harrisonburg, died Sunday evening, May 19, 1996 at his home following a lengthy illness. A son of Mrs. Hilda Thornhill Clore and the late John W. Clore, he was born on June 21, 19950 in Charlottesville and had formerly made his home in Roanoke prior to moving to Harrisonburg seven years ago. Mr. Clore graduated from Madison High School, Virginia Tech, and received his Masters Degree in Finance from George Washington University. He served as Regional President for First Union Bank (formerly Dominion Bank) until his retirement due to his health. Mr. Clore was a member of the Harrisonburg Rotary Club, served on the Board of Blue Ridge Community College and was a member of the Harrisonburg Baptist Church. He was a veteran, having served in the Army. On March 11, 1978 he married Jean L. Clore, who survives him. Besides his wife and mother of Madison, Va., he is survived by two daughters, Leah K. Clore and Victoria E. Clore, both at home; and a stepson, Michael Seth Janssen of Charlottesville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Harrisonburg Baptist Church. Dr. Tom Reynolds will conduct the service and burial will follow in Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery in Madison, Va. at 4 p.m., conducted by Dr. Reynolds and the Rev. Jim Baseler. Members of the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home. The casket will not be open to the public. GHIRINGHELLI, Hugo A., 71, of Roanoke, died Sunday, May 19, 1996 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was a member of South Roanoke United Methodist Church, and served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the China, Burma, India Theater in WW II. He was retired from National Patent Development Company. GIBSON, Robert A., 76, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, May 19, 1996. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from C & P Telephone Company with 35 years of service. WEBB, Prentiss Adrian, 82, of Roanoke, went to join his late wife, Reba, in eternal peace, at sunset on Sunday, May 19, 1996. He was born on January 22, 1914, at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Mr. Webb was raised in Kingston, W.Va. and Hamlin, W.Va., where he taught in a one room mountain school. He then worked as a legal aide in Huntington, W.Va. Mr. Webb attended law school at Southeastern School of Law in Washington, D.C. and then started his career with the United States Government in 1938 as a Personnel Officer in the Office of Price Stabilization. He serv ed as Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy during World War II, and married Reba Amanda Atkinson on December 31, 1945. Mr. Webb resumed his government career after the war, forming the original Secretariat of the United Nations in 1947. During his lengthy career in the federal government, he became Director of Personnel for the Executive Office of the President, Office of Civil and Defense Mobilization. Mr. Webb also worked for the U.S. Civil Service Commission. He retired as Director of Personnel to the Secretary of the Army and the Office of Civil Defense in 1969. In the 1970's, Mr. Webb was an advisor at Total Action Against Poverty, where he set up the area's first job placement program for the disadvantaged. He served on the League of Older Americans (LOA) Advisory Council, becoming Chairman in 1975. He then became Director of nutrition program of the LOA as well as Assistant Director of the LOA. Mr. Webb was the Chairman of the LOA Advisory Council in 1983. In 1987, he was Vice President of the Board of Directors of the LOA, then becoming President for four terms before his retirement in 1992. He was elected as delegate to the first Silver Haired Legislature in 1983 and helped formed the first platform for financial aid to the elderly. He also served as State Chairman of the Virginia Coalition for the Aging, and until his death served as Vice President of the Virginia State Council of Senior Citizens. Mr. Webb was also Chairman of Area Six Chapter 111, Virginia Federation of N.A.R.F.E. Being active for many years in the Democratic Party, he was a Treasurer of the Roanoke City Democratic Committee for many years and was active in Seniors and Law Together (SALT). Surviving are his daughter, Winona Webb Bishop; two grandsons, Eddie and Bill; two great-grandchildren, Amanda Lynn and William Prentiss. A celebration of life will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. James DeFoe officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Cedar Lawn Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the League of Older Americans (706 Campbell Ave. S.W., Roanoke, VA 24013) or the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 554, Roanoke, VA 24003-0554). Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel, where the family will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
