ILLUSTRATION: PHOTO:  Joel Nilsen, a 13-year-old student of artist Barbara 
          Capps, is one of the young artists featured in the current exhibit 
          at Virginia Tech's Perspective Gallery. The Blacksburg Middle School
          student won the state PTA Reflections Contest a few years ago for 
          his artwork. This piece was done as an illustration for the cover of
          a textbook written by Joel's father, Erik Nilsen, and Dave Orcutt, 
          both professors at Virginia Tech. The picture, a blending of the 
          desert and the tropical forest, represents the book's study of plant
