RADFORD GUNFIRE INJURES 3

Two adults and a 2-year-old boy were hit by gunfire while driving in Radford on Friday night, Radford police reported.

The victims - a 22-year-old man, a 24-year-old woman and the child, all from Roanoke - were taken to Radford Community Hospital. The extent of their injuries was unavailable, but the police said they were not life-threatening.

The victims' names were not released.

The police gave this account of the incident: The victims were driving south on Wadsworth Street when they stopped at the intersection with Rock Road at 10:06 p.m. They heard gunshots and noticed a gray or silver hatchback leave the area. The wounded driver took a left on Rock Road and drove the car off the road.

Numerous shots were fired, police said. Police believe the occupants of the hatchback to be suspects in the shooting.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the crime line at 731-3627.
