A 19-year-old Narrows man died Saturday after slipping from a 35-foot rock ledge into Wolf Creek in western Giles County.
Stephen Neal Dennis and some friends were diving from the ledge into about 20 feet of water when the accident occurred Saturday evening, said 1st Lt. Rodney Freeman of the Giles County Lifesaving and Rescue Crew.
Dennis struck his head on some rocks and landed in the water, Freeman said. A friend pulled him out after five minutes and immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Rescue crews arrived soon after and transported Dennis to Giles Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10 p.m.
