Amiot-Mabes

Becky Sue Mabes and Chad Michael Amiot were united in marriage on Saturday, May 25, 1996 at 2:00 at Ridgewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Nelson Harris officiating. The reception was held at the Holiday Inn in Salem.

The bride is the daughter of Don and Jean Mabes of Salem, Virginia. She is a graduate o f Salem High School, Greensboro College, and Virginia Commonwealth University. She was employed by Blue Ridge Community Services, Roanoke, Virginia, as a Residential Counselor at The Children's Center and then as a Parent Aide for In-Home Services.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Karen Custard of Prague, Nebraska, and the late Daniel Amiot. He is a graduate of Grand Forks Central High School, Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is employed by the US Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class Radioman (RM 2/SS) and is stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Jeannie Gallagher of Roanoke, sister of the bride, and Beth Basham of Roanoke, friend of the bride, served as matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Nicole Holdren of Salem, and Carrie Doyle of Roanoke, both friends of the bride. The flower girl was Mandy Myrold and ring bearer was Malaina Myrold, cousins of the groom, both of Crookston, Minnesota.

The best man was Kelly Amiot of Crookston, Minnesota, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Dustin Dulski of Blaine, Minnesota, brother of the groom; Jose Rodriguez of Gunter, Texas; and Joe Gallagher of Roanoke, the bride's brother-in-law.

Soloist, Karen Dulski of Blaine, Minnesota, sister of the groom, performed ``I've Never Known Love (Like This Before)''. Guestbook attendant was Danielle Amiot of Crookston, Minnesota, sister of the groom. Gift attendant was Melissa Overstreet of Roanoke, and Pianist was Denise Morris of Roanoke, both friends of the bride. Photography was by Jim Markey.

After a honeymoon trip to Ochos Rios, Jamaica, the newlyweds will live in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Bowles-Schwab

Dawn Michelle Schwab and Scott Brian Bowles were married April 6,1996 at Boones Mill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Steele officiating. Reception was in the church fellowship hall.

The matron of honor was Tara Love Armitage. Bridesmaids were Tammy Carr, Tracy Kozloff and Kimberly Small, all friends of the bride.

Kelvin Bowles served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were Lyn Caldwell, Gene Didlake and Gene Guffey, fiends of the groom.

Kristin Akers, niece of the bride, was flowergirl. Guestbook was attended by Andrea and Amanda Akers and Holly Elliott, also nieces of the bride.

The bride is a daughter of Jack D. and Nancy H. Schwab of Hardy and a granddaughter of Garnette H. Hargis of Vinton. She is a graduate of William Byrd High School and Radford University.

The groom is the son of W. Kelvin and Jane H. Bowles of Moneta. He is a graduate of Roanoke Catholic High School and attended East Carolina.

The couple honeymooned in Cancun and now reside in North Carolina.

Goggin-Jamison

Marie F. Jamison and E. Chapman Goggin were united in marriage on Saturday, April 27, 1996 at 4:00 p.m. at Fairmont Baptist Church in Boones Mill, Va. The Rev. Leonard Castleman and the Rev. Ed McClain officiated.

The bride's daughter, Lisa J. Bowling, served as the matron of honor. Mr. Roger Shelor, nephew of the groom, served as best man.

The sons of the bride, J. Clark, Jr., Fred, and Lynn Jamison, served as ushers. The soloist was Linda F. Jamison, daughter of the bride.

Three of the bride's grandchildren also joined in the celebration. J. Clark (Trey) Jamison, III, acted as guest book attendant, while Laura and Rebecca Jamison served cake. Mrs. Gina Shelor, niece of the groom, served punch.

Catering and flowers were by family friend Betty Perry of Weddings Unlimited.

Following a Caribbean cruise, the couple will primarily reside in the groom's Penhook home.

They offer many thanks to the family and friends who helped make this such a happy day.

Haynes-Spradlin

Stacie Elaine Spradlin and Luther Leslie (Luke) Haynes were united in marriage on the beautiful snowy morning of January 6, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church. The officiating clergymen of the double-ring ceremony were Rev. Jerry Sloss, pastor of the church and Rev. Dwight Haynes, brother of the groom.

The matron of honor was Michelle Matusevich, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Nikki Williams and April Sutphin, special friends of the bride. The flower girl was Amanda Dove, niece of the groom. She carried a basket with decorations designed by the bride.

Paul Haynes served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were Tony Haynes and Dallas Haynes, brothers of the groom and Joshua Spradlin, brother of the bride. The ring bearer was Thorton Gallimore, nephew of the groom. He carried a pillow designed and created by the bride.

The wedding was directed by Barbara Smithwick, aunt of the bride. The guestbook was attended by Sheryl Bobbitt, cousin of the bride and programs and bookmarkers were distributed by Jane Davis, sister of the groom. Organist was James Richardson and soloist was Myra Cox. The photography was masterfully handled by Simpkins Photography.

Immediately following the ceremony, the bride and groom were honored at a reception in the church fellowship hall hosted by Martha Huff, grandmother of the bride. The reception coordinator was Gail Williams, second mother to the bride. Assisting at the reception were Judy Huff, aunt of the bride, Stella Haynes, sister-in-law of the groom, Kathy Haynes, sister-in-law of the groom and Barbara Jean Brandau, aunt of the groom. The wedding cake was designed and made by Tammy Salmons.|

The bride is the daughter of Steve and Sharon Huff Spradlin of Blacksburg. She is the granddaughter of Howard and Conston Spradlin of Christiansburg and Sam and Martha Huff of Blacksburg. She is a graduate of Blacksburg High School and is currently a Dean's List student at Radford University. Stacie is majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Appalachian Studies and is currently employed by S and S Pools.|

The groom is the son of Paul and Betty Haynes of Christiansburg. he is the grandson of Ruth Haynes of Christiansburg and Beulah Hudson of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Christiansburg High School. Luke is currently employed by Wolverine Gasket Company and the United States Postal Service.

The bride and groom enjoyed an extended honeymoon in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and are currently living in Blacksburg, Va.

We would like to thank all of the family and friends who braved our wedding day blizzard to join us on our special day!! Glory be to God for blessing us with such a beautiful and especially unforgettable winter wonderland wedding day!!!

Luke and Stacie

McGuire-Chandler

Amy Jo Chandler and Frederick Alan McGuire were united in marriage on May 25, 1996 at Nineveh Church of the Brethren in Hardy, Virginia. The Rev. C. Berkley Stevens officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Lewis and Omega Chandler of Goodview.

The groom is the son of Chapman and Peggy McGuire of Hardy.

The matrons of honor were Melody Mitchell and Tammie Hartberger, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Vickie Welch, cousin of the bride; Kimberly Leonard, friend of the bride; and Loretta Ratcliffe, friend of the bride and groom.

The flowergirl was Chelsea Lee Hartberger, niece of the bride.

The guestbook was attended by Kristy Ratcliffe, cousin of the groom.

The best man was Chapman McGuire, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Robbie McGuire, brother of the groom; Teddy Ratcliffe, friend of the groom; Mark Hartberger, brother-in-law of the bride; and Ronnie Coleman, friend of the groom.

The ringbearer was Daniel Stephen Chandler, cousin of the brid e.

The bride is a graduate of Staunton River High School and attended Virginia Western Community College. The groom is a graduate of Franklin County High School and attends Virginia Western Community College. Both are employed by Branch & Associates, Inc. in Roanoke, Virginia.

The couple will make their home in Goodview.

Miles-Rorer

Vanessa Grace Rorer and Shaine Michael Miles were united in marriage on May 25, 1996 at twelve o'clock noon by the Rev. Michael L. Slaughter at West Salem Baptist Church.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The matron of honor was the bride's sister, Danielle Lineberry. Bridesmaids were Rae Beamer and Terri Beamer, friends of the bride.

Billy Miles, father of the groom, served as best man. Chad Miles and Travis Miles, brothers of the groom, and Torrian Gray, friend of the groom, were groomsmen.

Wedding music was provided by Renee Slaughter. Sarah Parr accompanied on the flute. The guest book was attended by Jill Strelka.

The bride's parents gave a reception immediately following the ceremony at the German Club Manor on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rorer of Salem, Virginia. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Germaine Rorer of Salem, Virginia, and Mrs. Geneva Kincer of Roanoke, Virginia. The bride is a graduate of Glenvar High School and Virginia Tech. She is employed as a Public Health Nutritionist with the Central Virginia Health District.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Miles of Salem, Virginia. He is the grandson of Mr. Billy Miles, Sr. of Salem, Virginia and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hunt of Fort Scott, Kansas. The groom is a graduate of Salem High School and Virginia Tech. He is currently pursuing his master's degree and will play his senior year of football this fall at Virginia Tech.

Following a Caribbean cruise, the couple will reside in Roanoke.

Mutter-Dickterenko

Melissa Kaye Dickterenko and Scott Keith Mutter were married May 25, 1996 in Rosalind Hills Baptist Church. Pastor Tom Stocks was the officiating clergyman. The reception was held at the Vinton War Memorial.

Catherine Meador, best friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. Sammie Mutter served as his son's best man. Jason Ayers, friend of the family, was the usher. Stephanie Mutter, sister of the groom, was the guestbook attendant. Bridal portraits were by Barry Brooks Photography.

The bride's gown of white Duchess silk was a Levkoff design handmade by Paula Ward. It featured a sweetheart neckline and straight bodice with a short semi-cathedral train. The v'd back was trimmed with elegant pearl beading. She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses, small royal blue roses, ivy and strands of pearls.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen P. Graham of Roanoke. She is a graduate of William Byrd High School in Vinton, and is employed by Clinique Cosmetics - Leggett, Tanglewood. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sammie J. Mutter of Vinton. He is a graduate of Stuanton River High School in Bedford, and is employed by The City of Roanoke as a Firefighter.

Following their wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the newlyweds will reside in Roanoke.

Nay-Gardiner

The marriage of Miss Jennifer Lee Gardiner of Richmond, Virginia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Morgan Harrell of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and Mr. and Mrs. James Daniel Gardiner of Christiansburg, Virginia, to Dr. Robert Marc Nay of Petersburg, Virginia, son of Dr. and Mrs. Clyde Whitley Vick, Jr. and Drs. Deborah Kinney and Robert Earl Nay, all of Petersburg, Virginia, took place May 25th at Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Petersburg.

The Reverend James Stephen Jones officiated. The soloist was Mrs. Laraine Minetree Smith, of Petersburg. The organist was Mrs. Eugene Daniel of Petersburg. Music was provided by the Lyrical Emages: Susan West, flute, and Melba Williams, harp, of Richmond.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a soft-white satin gown designed by the bride and her mother and sewn by her mother. The princess line off-the-shoulder gown with chapel length train and long fitted sleeves was accented with Venice lace, pearls, and satin rosettes. Her waist length veil fell from a tiara of satin accented to match her gown.

The honor attendant was Miss Shannon Nichole Slusser of Christiansburg, Virginia. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Daniel James Gardiner of Christiansburg, Miss Heather Brown of Morganfield, Kentucky, Miss Ann Bentley Cochran of Richmond, Mrs. Robert Lionel Gardiner of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, Miss Betsy Seward Vick of Berkeley, California, Doctor Kathryn Vick Oliver of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and Miss Julia Gardiner Bateman of Marrietta, Georgia.

Dr. Robert Earl Nay was his son's best man. Ushers were Mr. Lewis Tucker Ramsey, Mr. Earl Baxley Parson, III, Mr. Allan Garret Bartolich of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Werner Conrad Reelitz, Mr. William Randolph Tipton of Colonial Heights, Dr. Clyde Whitley Vick, Jr. of Petersburg, Mr. Stephen Brooks Vick of Dandridge, Tennessee, Dr. Clyde Whitley Vick, III of Rome, Georgia, and Mr. Mark Charles Henry of Jacksonville, Florida.

The flower girls were Miss Marlee Adair Dance and Miss Anneliese Dance, both of Petersburg. The ring bearer was Master Nichola s Metry of Colonial Heights, Virginia.

A reception was held at the Country Club of Petersburg following the ceremony. Mistresses of ceremonies were Mrs. Phillip Hutson McClure and Mrs. Harry Alan Bigley, Jr., both of Petersburg.

Following a wedding trip to Hilton Head, the couple will live in Petersburg.

The bride is an Investment Specialist at the Richmond Branch of Charles Schwab and Company Incorporated. The groom is a Veterinarian and a partner at Crater Road Veterinary Hospital.

Schulwolf-Tuttle

Amy Terisa Tuttle and Marc Lynn Schulwolf were married May 25, 1996. The 7pm wedding was held in the Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. William T. Vest, Sr., grandfather of the bride, of Forest, Va., and Rabbi Mark Golub, of Newport News, Va. A reception dinner was held at the Donaldson Brown Hotel after the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Tuttle of Blacksburg, and the granddaughter of Rev. and Mrs. William T. Vest, Sr., of Forest, Va., and Mr. Will iam V. Tuttle of Lynchburg, Va. The groom is the son of Mrs. Benjamin Schulwolf of Virginia Beach, Va., and the late Mr. Schulwolf.

Mrs. Carol Smith, cousin of the bride, of Virginia Beach, Va., was the honor attendant. Bridal attendants were Ms. Laurie Schulwolf of Virginia Beach, Va., sister of the groom, Ms. Melanie Ruby of Hilton Head, S.C., Mrs. Kim Kelley, of Charlotte, N.C., Ms. Karen Lynch of Charlotte, N.C., and Ms. Kristin Jones of Seattle, Wa., friends of the bride.

The best man was Sanford Schulwolf, of San Francisco, Ca., brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Matthew Tuttle, of Blacksburg, Va., brother of the bride, Andrew Schulwolf, of Virginia Beach, Va., cousin of the groom, John Jay Greenspan of Burke, Va., Robby Dobrinsky of Norfolk, Va., and Scott Ehrenworth, of Cleveland, Oh., friends of the groom.

The bride is a graduate of Blacksburg High School and Virginia Tech. She is employed by Starbucks Coffee in the District of Columbia. The groom is a graduate of Maury High School, Norfolk, Va., and Virginia Tech. He is employed by the Austin Grill in Old Town, Alexandria.

After a wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple will live in Alexandria, Va.

Stone-McDaniel

Cassandra Zonniece McDaniel and Samuel Thomas Stone were married April 22, 1996 in Roanoke. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke.

Stowers-Martin

Teresa Ann Martin and William Henry Stowers were united in marriage on May 11, 1996 at Vaughn Chapel at Ferrum College in Ferrum, Virginia. Reverend Dr. William Wilson of Bluefield, W.Va.. officiated. A reception was held in the fellowship hall following the ceremony.

Jessica Martin of Boones Mill, niece of the bride, was maid of honor. Melinda Mitchem and Doranna Mitchem of Bluefield, W.Va., cousins of the groom, were bridesmaids. Stephanie Gibson of Pembrook, Va., stepsister of the bride was flowergirl.

Martin Bratcher of Roanoke, Va., friend to the groom, was best man. Paul Duncan of Ocoee, Fla., cousin of the groom, was an usher and the candlelighter. David Martin and Troy Martin, both of Boones Mill, Va., brothers of the bride, were ushers. Christopher Martin of Boones Mill, Va., nephew of the bride, was the ringbearer. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Douglas Martin of Roanoke, Va.

The guestbook attendants were Faye Martin and Jennifer Martin, both of Boones Mill, Va., sisters-in-law of the bride.

The bride wore a formal length gown of ivory satin and pearls. Her accessories were a pearl necklace from her late paternal grandmother, Viola Martin, and pearl earrings from her late maternal grandmother, Juanita Mattley. The bride and groom used a heart shaped dish from the groom's late maternal grandmother, Anna Duncan (Mrs. W. J. Duncan) to accent their wedding cake. Honorary grandparent was Mr. William J. Duncan of Bluefield, W.Va., maternal grandfather of the groom.

Reception hostesses were Virginia Lewis of Blue Ridge, Va., Barbara Mitchem and Kay White, both of Bluefield, W.Va., both are aunts of the groom.

A very special thank you to Mrs. Bettie Bowles of Bluefield, W.Va., mother to the groom for all of her help preparing for and during our wedding.

The newlyweds will reside in Roanoke, after a honeymoon to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.

Surratt-Ledwin

Donna M. Ledwin and Christopher K. Surratt were married May 25, 1996 at The Elm. Minister Tina Beneman officiated the ceremony. A reception was held at The Elm.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald T. Ledwin of Buffalo, N.Y. She is a graduate of Fordham University, New York, N.Y., with a B.A., and a graduate of Boston University, Boston, Ma., with an M.B.A. She is employed by the College of Notre Dame of Maryland as director of athletics.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Surratt of Roanoke, is a graduate of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville with a B.A., Ph.D. He is employed by the National Institute on Drug Abuse as a biochemist.

The newlyweds will live in Baltimore, Md. after the wedding trip to Bermuda.

Turnmire-Cooper

Courtney Ann Cooper and Bradley Neal Turnmire were married May 18, 1996 at the bride's home. Bishop Steve Garrett of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiated.

The maid of honor was Christy Cooper, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Maggie Long, friend, Dana Turnmire and Laura Turnmire, sisters of the bridegroom. Flowergirl was Megan Turnmire, sister of the bridegroom.

The best man was Doug Leeche, friend. Ushers were Keith Mann, Bryan Robertson, both friends, and Travis Cooper, brother of the bride. Ringbearer was Kevin Turnmire, brother of the bridegroom. Guestbook attendant was Amber Willmott.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al M. Cooper of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School, Roanoke, and attended Utah Valley State College, Orem, Utah.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy O. Turnmire of Lynchburg, is a graduate of Heritage High School, Lynchburg, and Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.

The newlyweds have planned a wedding trip to Jamaica.

Miss Betsy Bell, friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. Mrs. Sherry Janney, friend of the bride, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Ms. Elizabeth Babin, Miss Sharon Perry, Miss Carol McGee, all friends of the bride, Miss Elizabeth Brewer, sister of the groom, and Miss Karon Joyner, sister of the bride. Miss Olivia Janney was the flowergirl. Mr. S tephen Gross, friend of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Kurt Wick, Mr. Stephen Woodberry, Mr. George Orlando, all friends of the groom, Mr. Andrew Williams, brother of the groom, and Mr. Burton Joyner, II, brother of the bride. Mr. Travis Meador, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Meador, was the ringbearer. Organist was Mrs. Janice Humphreys and soloist was Mrs. Unita Anderson. The guestbook was attended by Mrs. Leigh Meadows. The reception was held at the Jefferson Center's Fitzpatrick Hall.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Esther M. Joyner and the late Dr. Burton L. Joyner of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and Mary Washington College. The groom is the son of Colonel and Mrs. Slade A. Brewer, USMC of Burke, Virginia and Commander and Mrs. Robert R. Williams, USN (R) of Ventura, California. He is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Annandale, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Both are employed by Veda, Incorporated in Arlington, Virginia and both currently attend the Northern Virginia Virginia Tech Extension Center pursuing masters degrees. The newlyweds will live in Burke, Virginia after a honeymoon trip to Cozumel, Mexico.
