Jewell anniversary
Rev. and Mrs. James Macauley Jewell celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary on May 15, 1996. They were united in marriage in Roanoke on May 15, 1926. Mrs. Jewell was the former Miss Edythe Alexander of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Rev. Jewell is a native of Montgomery County and a minister of the Virginia (Appalachian) Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church for 73 years. He has pastored many churches in Virginia. West Virginia and Florida. Rev. Jewell also served as Treasurer of his Conference for 18 years. He located and purchased the Maranatha Conference Center and Campground in Dublin, Va. He is 93 years old and now retired.
Their children are William H. Jewell, Wilmington, Del; Rhea Jewell Christensen, Leesburg, Va.; Rev. Dallas M. Jewell, Pulaski and the late Richard Jewell. Rev. and Mrs. Jewell have eleven grandchildren, including Rev. J. Scott Jewell, Grottoes, Va.; twenty great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jewell is a helpmate, Sunday school teacher and housewife. They live in their home in Christiansburg. < Tolley anniversary
Charles P. and Elsie K. Tolley of Clifton Forge celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 25, 1996. The celebration was held at Alleghany Country Club in Covington, Va., and was hosted by their children.
The couple was married on May 25, 1946 in Kerrs Creek Baptist Parsonage by the Rev. John S. Cash. Mr. and Mrs. Tolley have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Mrs. Tolley, the former, Elsie Mae Knick of Lexington, is retired from Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. Mr. Tolley is the retired former owner of Nair's Dry Cleaners in Clifton Forge. They have resided in Clifton Forge for the past 36 years and are members of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church.
