HARVEY, Inez Chandler, 88, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, May 25, 1996, at Friendship Manor. Inez was the widow of Harry H. Harvey. Surviving are one sister, Mary and husband Frank McGeorge of Vinton; children, Ann and husband Harris Bowen of Mt. Dora, Fla., and Glen and wife Margaret Harvey of Roanoke; grandchildren, Connie and husband Rev. Tim Gault of Sebastian, Fla., and Rev. Byron and wife Karen Harvey of Grove City, Pa., and great-grandchildren, Chiann on, Brent and Anthony Harvey, and Hannah Gault. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel by Mr. Keith White, with interment in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel

KIRBY, Bessie Lotts, 84, of Glasgow, died Saturday, May 25, 1996, in the Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Mrs. Kirby was born September 26, 1911, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late John W. Lotts and Rachael Sweet Lotts. She was a member of the Lauderdale ARP Church. Mrs. Kirby was the widow of David Lee Kirby, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Anna Sandridge. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Clarence David and Nancy Kirby of Glasgow, and five grandchildren, Susan Renee Kirby, Margo Marie Kirby, Garland Sandridge, Jeffrey Sandridge and Anthony Sandridge. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 1996, at the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. H. Middleton Raynal officiating. Burial will follow in the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Glasgow First Aid Crew. MABRY, Ethel R., 87, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, May 26, 1996. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Mrs. Mabry was preceded in death by her husband, George C. M abry; father and mother, Robert E. and Bessie H. Hamilton; brothers, Paul Hamilton, Robert Hamilton, Bill Hamilton and Jack Hamilton, and a sister, Beatrice Rakes. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, John R. and Christine Phillips of Kimball, W.Va., and Robert H. and Pauline Phillips of Roanoke; grandchildren, Daniel Phillips of Gary, W.Va., Todd Phillips of Charlotte, N.C., Martha Colo of Roanoke and Debra Bowlick of Princeton, W.Va.; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Russell Hamilton of Las Vegas, Nev., and Victor Hamilton of Welch, W.Va., and a sister, Goldie Green of Bluefield, Va. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Emory N. McKINNEY, Edith Hungate, 95, of Roanoke, formerly of Doniphan, Missouri, died Sunday, May 26, 1996 in a local hospital. She was the widow of John G. McKinney and a member of Belmont United Methodist Church. Surviving are her sister, Mrs. Clara H. Payne, Roanoke; brother, John R. Hungate, Richmond; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 1996 with the Rev. William E. Hungate officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd. OVERSTREET, Rufus Floyd, 81, of 513 Vine Street, Bedford, died Saturday evening, May 25, 1996, in Virginia Baptist Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Verna Orange Overstreet. He was a retired farmer and part owner of W. A. Parker Canning Co. He was born June 11, 1914, in Bedford County, a son of the late Richard Harrison Overstreet and Annie Orange Overstreet. He is survived by two daughters, Sarah O. Parker of Thaxton and Carol O. Stanley of Bedford; three brothers, William Overstreet of Penns Grove, N.J., Alfred Overstreet of Springfield and Elmer Overstreet of Bedford; two sisters, Junia O. Kean of Forest and Virginia O. Powers of Madison Heights; three grandsons, Dennis G. Parker and his wife Connie of Thaxton, Obie L. Carter Jr. of Bedford and Timothy D. Carter of Sutherlin; a granddaughter, Patricia P. Davidson and her husband Gary of Lynchburg; four great-grandchildren, Joshua S. Parker of Thaxton, Amy Davidson and Jennifer Davidson of Lynchburg and Brianna Carter of Bedford; two stepbrothers, Jack Reid and Robert Reid of Bedford; four stepsisters, Betty Goodman and Margaret Wright of Bedford, Louise Abbott of Forest and Cathryn Virts of Roanoke, and a special friend and caretaker, Mildred Broughman. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 1996, at Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Geoff Hubbard and the Rev. Earl Ragland officiating. SIMPSON, Beulah Mary Holland, 91, of Rocky Mount, died Saturday, May 25, 1996 at Franklin Memorial Hospital. She was born in Franklin County, May 18, 1905, a daughter of George P. Holland and Mary Clarke Perdue. She was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church and a graduate of National Business College. Her first position was in the office of Continental Can Company in Roanoke. She later transferred to Athens, Ga., for five years and to Tampa, Fla. for four years where she was a private secretary. While in Tampa, she received a telegram from the directors of Bold Knob Furniture Company offering her a position, which she accepted and returned to Rocky Mount. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel DeWitt Simpson; two sisters, Lolene H. King and Edith H. Overstreet; four brothers, Elwood, Merrill, Curtis and Wilson Holland. Surviving are three sisters, Martha H. Peake, Frances H. Long Oliver, Doris Ann Taylor; two brothers, Warren Holland and Jack G. Holland; 48 much loved nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 1996 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church with Dr. Joe Bryant and the Rev. James V. DeFoe officiating. Mrs. James Mitchell, organist, will render soft selections on the organ and chimes. Burial will follow in High Street Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to Rocky Mount Baptist Church or a favorite charity. Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky Mount is in charge of the arrangements.

SMITH, Zachary Justin, infant son of Troy and Shanna Smith of Boones Mill, died Saturday, May 25, 1996, in a Salem hospital. Also surviving is a brother, Isaiah Jordan Smith of Boones Mill. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel.
