Glenvar won three singles matches and two doubles matches as it held off George Mason 5-4 in Tappahannock to win its fifth straight Group A boys' tennis title.
No. 1 singles player Josh Williamson rebounded from a loss in the semifinals to beat Chris Lutz 6-4, 6-1. He then teamed with Tommy Lesperance to beat Lutz and Willie Gross 6-3, 7-5 in No.1 doubles.
Ryan Teague and Erik Johnston also won singles matches before rallying to beat Chris and Ben Deutsch 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 in No.2 doubles. Teague also played three sets in the singles, winning 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
In individual play, Clarke County's Patrick Bartlett beat Jonathan Hincher of J.J. Kelly 6-2, 6-2 to win the singles title. Sean and Derek Fairchilds of Stuarts Draft beat Hincher and Chad Porter 6-3, 6-3 to win the doubles championship.

Blacksburg earned a spot in today's Group AA boys' tennis final by sweeping the doubles competition in a 6-3 semifinal win over William Byrd at Handley High School in Winchester.
Blacksburg's Mikhal Pfeil came from behind to beat Darin Pearson 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 at No.2 singles and Paul Petersen pulled out a clutch 6-4, 6-2 win at No.4 over Jamar Wright as Blacksburg (13-0) advanced to face York, a 6-3 winner over James Monroe, in today's championship match at 9 a.m.
Robert Gibb beat Miguel Castro 6-3, 6-2 at No.1. Gibb and Pfeil are undefeated in singles play this year.
Timesland was eliminated from individual doubles play. Gibb and Pfeil were beaten by York's Maymi and Eric Christianson 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 and Northside's Justin Young and Drew Anderson lost to Waynesboro's Ozinal and Seth Hart 6-2, 6-0.
At Salem, Western Albemarle sophomore Meghan Mahan repeated her Group AA girls' tennis singles championship by beating Blacksburg ninth-grader Yasamina Hilu 6-0, 6-0.
Fort Defiance beat Gate City 8-1 for the team title. Handley's Allison Cole and Kellie Partlow beat Gate City's Kellie Carter and Courtney Thomas 6-2, 6-2 for the doubles title.
At Radford, J.J. Kelly polished off Radford 6-3 for its sixth straight Group A girls' tennis championship. Bland's Ashleigh Sarver won the singles title with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Buffalo Gap's Kristen Hull. J.J. Kelly's Dera Leigh Wood and Kristen Dotson won the doubles title.
Amy Layman gave up 10 hits but held Floyd County to two runs as Glenvar beat the Buffaloes 5-2 to advance to the championship game of the Region C softball tournament. Layman walked two and struck out six.
Glenvar led 5-0 when Floyd scored in the fifth inning. Sonia Hylton reached on a single and scored on a double by Kim Moran. Moran then scored on a wild pitch.
Glenvar will face Castlewood, a 6-0 winner over Radford, in the title game today at 4:30 p.m. at the Dedmon Center in Radford.
Suzanne Maddox pitched a one-hitter as Amherst County defeated Lord Botetourt 4-0 in the semifinals of the Region III softball tournament in Tunstall. Maddox struck out eight.
Amherst took a 2-0 lead in the first inning before getting a base hit. The Lancers used two walks and a misplayed bunt to score one run and added another on a fielder's choice.
Jessica Davis had the lone hit for Botetourt, which finished the season at 18-4. The Cavaliers committed five errors.
