A Blacksburg man shot and killed himself Thursday evening after an argument with his girlfriend, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
Chief Deputy Mike Cox said James Steven Bowen, 24, drove his truck to a home in the 1500 block of Oilwell Road on Price Mountain to talk to his girlfriend.
After a disagreement, Bowen threatened to kill himself. About 8 p.m. he left the house and went to his truck parked in the driveway. There he got out a rifle and shot himself, Cox said.
Bowen was dead on arrival at Columbia Montgomery Regional Hospital, Cox said.
