DAVID S. McCLUNG II, former president of McClung Lumber Co. in Salem, has been named chairman of Pennsylvania Lumbermen's Mutual Insurance Co., based in Philadelphia. McClung has been a member of the board since 1978 and is a member of its executive committee.
McClung has spent most of his career in the lumber and building material industry. He joined the family-owned business in 1951 and was named president in 1956, a position he held until his retirement this year.
PLM was established by lumber dealers in 1895 and continues to serve the lumber, woodworking and building materials industries.
BANKING
SHERRE RITCHEY KLINK has been promoted to bank officer at First Union Bank of Virginia. Klink, who joined the bank in 1989, is supervisor of the line operations area that supports more than 200 branch offices in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
ENGINEERS
STEWART A. LASSITER has been elected an associate in the engineering consulting firm of Finkbeiner, Pettis & Strout Inc., based in Toledo, Ohio. Lassiter, manager of the Roanoke office since 1992, has 20 years of experience in infrastructure engineering.
LEON P. HARRIS, president of Tele-Path Instruments in Salem, was recently inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni of the Industrial and Systems Engineering School at Virginia Tech.
HEALTH CARE
Carilion Health Plans, an affiliate of Carilion Health System and a provider of managed care programs to employers in Western Virginia, has added several employees to its staff. CAROLYN CHRISMAN has been named director of sales and contracting. She comes to Carilion from Sentara Health Plans, where she was vice president. She also was president of the Virginia HMO Association. JAMES CLOE is area sales representative for the New River Valley. He formerly was director of respiratory/neurology services at Radford Community Hospital and was sales/marketing representative for Radford Community Hospital Occupational Health Services. NANCY WEEKLY is area sales representative for Roanoke. She previously was marketing director for Carilion's Occupational Health Services and Employee Assistance Program. BRYAN HYLER has been named a sales representative. He formerly worked for Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield and is president-elect of the National Association of Health Underwriters, Southwest Chapter.
MEDICINE
DR. MICHAEL T. KELLY has joined the staff of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital's Comprehensive Rehabilitation Program. He is board certified in family medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry). His areas of interest include spinal cord injury, joint replacement, carpal tunnel syndrome and neck and back pain.
DR. JESSE T. DAVIDSON III recently was elected president of the Virginia Surgical Society. He practices with the Jefferson Surgical Clinic in Roanoke, a subsidiary of Physicians Care of Virginia.
HOSPITALITY
VICTOR MURILLO has been named banquet manager at The Homestead resort in Hot Springs. Murillo, who has worked in the hospitality industry for 23 years, will oversee all food and beverage operations for groups, conventions and private parties. Murillo comes to The Homestead from Wyndham Harbour Island Hotel in Tampa, Fla., where he was banquet manager and director of catering.
LAW
G. MARSHALL MUNDY of Mundy Rogers & Frith, a Roanoke law firm, has been elected a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Mundy also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a fellow of the Virginia Bar Foundation and a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
MANUFACTURING
EDWARD SCOTT has joined Mod-U-Kraf Homes Inc. in Rocky Mount as customer service coordinator. He comes to Mod-U-Kraf from Prince-ton Homes of Danville, where he was plant manager and vice president. He has 16 years' experience in the sectional home industry.
WILLIAM R. SMALL, vice president and manager of Westvaco Corp.'s consumer packaging division in Covington, has received an honorary doctor of engineering degree from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind. Small is an alumnus of the institute.
MEDIA
SCOTT G. BURTON has been named training manager at The Roanoke Times. He will design and teach management courses and develop outside sources of training for the company's employees. Burton has held management jobs in the newspaper's circulation department and has been a full-time coach and facilitator for work teams.
MORTGAGE BROKERS
LOUISE E. CONNER has joined the Roanoke branch of First National Mortgage Corp. as a loan originator. Conner has 14 years of mortgage banking experience and is president of the Roanoke Valley Mortgage Bankers Association. She previously was a real estate loan officer at Salem Bank & Trust.
