POLICE NAB SUSPECTS IN SLAYING

Two men were arrested Saturday in Albemarle County in connection with the slaying of a man in Lynchburg.

Witnesses told Lynchburg police that Tony Montez Murrell, 21, was seen getting into a blue sedan about 3 p.m. Moments later, the witnesses said they heard several shots from inside the car. The car then sped off after dumping Murrell out of the car, according to Lynchburg police Cmdr. Earl Burnette.

Murrell was pronounced dead at the scene from at least one gunshot wound.

Lynchburg police issued an alert for vehicle with Pennsylvania plates. The search ended about 5 p.m. with the arrests in Albemarle County.

The men were apprehended after a short chase by officers from Albemarle and Buckingham counties and the state police.
