Virginia Independent Party holds state convention in Lexington to pick a U.S. Senate candidate. Tex Wood is seeking the nomination of this party, which grew out of Ross Perot's 1992 presidential campaign and now has an automatic spot on the Virginia ballot.
June 11: ELECTION DAY: Virginia Republicans hold primary to pick a U.S. Senate candidate. John Warner and Jim Miller are the candidates. Because Virginia does not register by party, all registered voters may vote.
Aug. 12-16: Republican national convention in San Diego.
Aug. 26-29: Democratic national convention in Chicago.
Oct. 7: Deadline to register to vote if not already on the books.
