Phi Beta Lambda at New River Community College thanks everyone who participated in its March of Dimes five-mile fund-raising walk, which netted $23,500.
Dozens of people and groups helped, providing refreshments, publicity, decoration, organization and communication.
The New River chapter has raised the most money in the event for the March of Dimes in recent years out of all Phi Beta Lambda chapters nationwide.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the New River Valley thanks participants in its May Team-Up & Tee-Off Golf Tournament for providing support for its programs.
Tournament winners won dinners, gift certificates, discount cards and merchandise from local restaurants and businesses.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters also thanks all participants in its picnic-pack raffle fund-raiser. The winner was Jeff Bourne of Blacksburg.
Radford/Fairlawn Daily Bread is celebrating its fourth birthday and thanks the retirees, ministers, students, nurses, professors, teachers and other people who have helped. The volunteers pick up bread and food, run errands, clean up, serve on the board of directors and help keep Radford/Fairlawn going.
The students and staff at Harding Avenue Elementary School thank the two dozen local businesses and professionals who helped with the new playground-equipment fund-raiser.
Christiansburg Head Start thanks the almost-three dozen businesses, schools and organizations that helped during its 1995-96 program year.
