ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

Home sales fell slightly in the Roanoke Valley last month. The Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors said 337 homes were sold in May, down 4.8 percent from 354 in April and off 1.7 percent from 343 a year earlier.

The association said 352 contracts closed during May. The valley had 2,154 homes for sale at the end of the month, 625 of them added during May.

On average, buyers paid 2.7 percent less than the listed price and properties spent 99 days on the market.

The most expensive house listed for $775,000 and sold for $715,000 in less than a day. The least expensive was listed for $12,950 and sold for $8,000 after 291 days on the market. The properties were not identified. The median price for a home last month was $96,000.
