Tech professor on A&E
BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech sociology professor Clifton Bryant will be interviewed on the Ancient Mysteries program on the Arts and Entertainment (A&E) network on Thursday, June 6, at 9 p.m
Bryant will discuss ancient death and burial rites. Bryant teaches a course in the sociology of death that includes funeral customs.
Retirement seminar
BLACKSBURG - Local retirees or those planning retirement are invited to tour the exhibit area from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at the Retire Blacksburg seminar. The seminar will be held at the Donaldson Brown Hotel and Conference Center at Virginia Tech. Exhibits in Rooms D and E will include health care, recreational and cultural opportunities and travel information. The exhibit area is open to the public.
Retire Blacksburg is a weekend seminar for prospective retirees from throughout the country to learn more about Blacksburg and the benefits of retiring in the New River Valley.

Athletics physicals
BLACKSBURG - Blacksburg High School will have athletics physicals for the 1996-97 school year Monday at 6 p.m. in the school's gymnasium. The fee is $10. Students can pick-up forms from the school's main office.
Physicals are for students who will attend the school next year, including rising eighth-graders at Blacksburg Middle School. All students who are interested in participating in a sport must have a physical. The schedule for arrival follows:
Rising seniors - 6 p.m.; rising juniors - 6:20 p.m.; rising sophomores - 6:50 p.m.; rising freshman - 7:10 p.m. and rising eighth-graders - 7:30 p.m.
