Children and young adults can register for Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library's 1996 Summer Reading Program. The program is free and starts this month.
This year's theme, "Choose your own adventure.... read," allows children to use their imagination while reading books. Readers will be prizes for reading books and visiting the library or bookmobile.
Pre-schoolers through rising third-graders can be "Eager Readers" while young adult readers, children in grades 4 and up, can join the "Thrills and Chills" group by reading and visiting the library and bookmobile.
All participants will receive book bucks for books they have read. They can redeem them for prizes at the end of the program. The program will end July 31 for Montgomery County participants and Aug. 1 for Floyd County participants. Following is the registration schedule for the Summer Reading Program:
June 6: at the Floyd County Bookmobile;
June 10: during library hours at the Christiansburg and Blacksburg libraries;
June 17: during library hours at the Floyd County library.
Summer Story Times sponsored by the Montgomery-Floyd County Regional Library will start this month. The program will start at the headquarters branch library in Christiansburg the week of June 11. The program will start at the Jessie Peterman Branch Library in Floyd the week of June 18. There will be no story times at the Blacksburg branch library because of renovations. The program is free to children in Montgomery and Floyd counties. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Summer Story Time schedule follows. For more information, call Dot Ogburn at 382-6967.
