HOGGATT HEADED TO RICHMOND

Hunter Hoggatt, an All-Timesland boys' basketball player at Staunton River this past winter, is transferring for his senior season and will finish his career at Varina High School in Richmond.

Hoggatt's family is moving to the Richmond area because his father, Terry Hoggatt, has taken a position as the assistant principal at Tuckahoe Middle School in Henrico County. Terry Hoggatt is the principal at Staunton River Middle School and confirmed the family would be leaving after the completion of the school year.

Hunter Hoggatt, the leading scorer in Timesland with a 26.7 point average, was an All-Group AA first-team guard on the Associated Press team. He was the Timesland Sizzlin' Sophomore of the Year in 1995.

Hoggatt will play for coach Stu Richardson at Varina. He played for Richardson as a freshman when both were at Altavista High School.

Richardson was forced to resign from that job and Hoggatt transferred to Staunton River where he played the past two seasons.

Hoggatt has scored 1,575 career points. He has committed to Virginia Commonwealth University for a basketball scholarship following his senior season.
