Branch & Associates of Roanoke has been named general contractor for two major construction projects in Charlottesville.
One is the second phase of Lakeside Apartments, a complex of 10 new buildings housing 200 upscale units owned by Lakeside II Limited Partnership. The cost is $13 million. The work is expected to be completed in the late summer of 1997. The complex is located off Avon Street Extended, adjacent to the site proposed for Charlottesville's new Monticello High School.
The second contract is for a $2.4 million research and testing facility for Motion Control Industries of Bloomington, Ind., a subsidiary of The Carlisle Corp. It will be used for development of new technological advances in heavy duty brake pads and for conducting strength and durability tests on the company's products.
Branch is associated with Dewberry & Davis of Marion in providing design and building services for the building located north of Charlottesville at the North Fork Research Park.
