Radford University's Alumni Association will hold its annual Golden Reunion Weekend June 14-16 for the classes of 1937-47, 1951, 1956, 1961 and 1966. The event's theme is ``Remembering the World War II Years.'' A ``Stage Door Canteen,'' reminiscent of canteens held for soldiers during the war, will open June 15 at 6 p.m. in the Heth Student Center Ballroom. The Miles High Jazz Ensemble and the Sweet Adelines will perform. Cost of admission is $5.
Other events include a luncheon with university President Douglas Covington, a dinner cruise and campus tours. Registration begins at 1 p.m. June 14. Call 831-5248 or (800) 782-3174.
Canals lecture
Phil Eckman, historian of the Virginia Canals and Navigation Society, will speak on ``Our Forefathers' First Interstate: Canals and Colonial Virginians'' on June 13 at 7 p.m. in the Shenandoah Division Conference Room of the Virginia Museum of Transportation.
The lecture is part of the museum's 1996 Transportation Heritage Lecture Series.
