FREE FRIDAY CONCERTS BEGIN TONIGHT

A series of free Friday evening concerts will be held in Pulaski's Jackson Park every other week starting today, when the Blacksburg Community Band will perform.

The seven performances are sponsored by the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley and the town of Pulaski. Each two-hour concert will feature a different style of music and start at 6 p.m.

Other scheduled performers will be the Old Pros Band, June 21; the Riverboat Ramblers, July 5; Sierra, July 19; songs from "South Pacific," the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Aug. 2; Laura Pole, Greg Trefidlo and Neal Phillips, Aug. 16, and Bog Blues Beat, Aug. 30.

The groups will perform in Jackson Park's gazebo. Those attending should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Food will be sold. In case of heavy or prolonged rain, a concert will be cancelled. Further information is available by calling the Fine Arts Center at 980-7363.
