BUCKLAND, Doris Meadows, 48, of Williamsburg, died Thursday, June 6, 1996. Funeral service Monday, 1 p.m. Arritt Funeral Home Chapel, Covington.

COLEMAN, Harold Edward, 67, of Buena Vista, died Wednesday, June 5, 1996. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday, Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel.

COOK, Raymond Drewry Jr., (""R.D."") 42, of Catawba went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 6, 1996. He was a devoted husband and father. Mr. Cook was an active member of Grace Baptist Temple Church serving as a Deacon and was involved in m any other church activities. He was also an active member of the Catawba Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Stuart Cook; daughter, Desiree' Cook; son, Drew Cook; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cook Sr.; sisters, Darlene McDowell, Phyllis Wimmer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Stuart; two brother-in-laws, Edward Keith Stuart, Kenneth Stuart; sister-in-law, Lori Boothe; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 1996 at Grace Baptist Temple Church with the Dr. Daniel Mitchell and Rev. Gene Ashworth officiating. DUNCAN, Lurlene M. , 79, of Belspring, died Friday, June 7, 1996 at her home. She was a retired school teacher. Surviving are her husband, Grover L. Duncan, Belspring; one daughter, Darryll Childress, Belspring; one son, William D. Duncan, Belspring; a brother, Rev. Clifton McCoy, Lynchburg; one sister, Janis Ferrell, Richmond; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild also survives. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Belspring Baptist Church, with the R ev. Marty L. Glisson officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home.

McMAHAN, Shirley Ann, 61, of Pembroke, died Friday morning, June 7, 1996, in Roanoke Memorial Rehab. Center in Roanoke. Born in Pembroke, she was the daughter of the late John Frank Dunbar and Evangeline Albert Dunbar Meredith; and stepdaughter of the la te Aubrey Meredith. Shirley was a member of Calvary Christian Church in Pembroke and had served as bookkeeper for Virginia Garage in Pearisburg. Surviving are her devoted husband of 35 years, Charles Edward McMahan; a son, John E. McMahan of Pembroke; a daughter, Maria Kim McMahan Marsh; and son-in-law, David Marsh of Stafford; two grandsons, Jonathan Thomas Marsh and Joshua McMahan Marsh. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel in Pembroke with the Rev. Bobby Sutphin, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m

QUESENBERRY, Waitman Waldo, 84, of Galax, died June 5, 1996. Mr. Quesenberry was born in Carroll County, Va. on April 30, 1912 to Loranza Quesenberry and Ida Robinson Quesenberry. He is survived by his wife, Thelma N. Quesenberry; one brother, Gleeon Quesenberry, Austinville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Sunday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Galax, with the Rev. Claxton Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Galax.

RAINEY, Ralph Tilman, 78, of 1138 Roundtree Drive, Bedford, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 1996, in Veterans Administration Hospital, Salem. He was born in Pardee, Va. on November 24, 1917, a son of the late William Shelby Rainey and Naomi Ruth Sanders. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kelton Glenn Rainey and William Shelby Rainey and a sister, Jewel Doak. He was retired from the U.S. Army, World War II, POW, retired as truck driver from Sam Moore Furniture Co., a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, member of the 70th Tank Battalion Association, member of V.F.W. Post 2157 and member of Bedford Moose Lodge #1897. He is survived by his wife, Janet Nuckolds Rainey, Bedford; a son, William Glenn Rainey, Bedford; a daughter and son-in-law, Frieda R. and Tommie A. Harman, Blacksburg; a sister, Maxine Nichols, Columbus, Ohio; his mother-in-law, Helen J. Nuckolds, Huddleston; four grandchildren, Jessica Harman, Danielle, Kelton and Tyler Rainey; a special relative, Gary M. Overstreet; a special niece and her family, Sharon Waller, Ohio; a niece and her family, Sandy Dickey, Lorton, Va.; a special nephew and his family, Gary Nichols, Ohio. Services will be conducted on Saturday, June 8, 1996 at 11 a.m. from Patmos United Methodist Church with interment with Military Honors by American Legion Post 16, to follow in the church cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to the Patmos United Methodist Church Building Fund. Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, is in charge of arrangements.

SALMONS, Sarah Saunders, 84, of Zellwood, Fla., died Friday, June 7, 1996. She was the daughter of Julia Lunsford and William Coles Saunders. A Roanoke native, Mrs. Salmons enjoyed a long career as Financial Secretary at North Cross School. She retired to Florida in 1984. She is lovingly survived by her two children, Sarah Ann and Randolph; her four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

SMITH, W. Teresa, 66, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 6, 1996. Mrs. Smith was retired from S. H. Heironimus. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence S. (Larry) Smith; her sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Stephen Smith and wife, Jill, Jackson, Miss., Larry Wayne Smith and wife, Felicia, Roanoke; he r brothers and sister-in-law, Milton Z. Sloan and wife, Sue, Illinois, Wilton Sloan, Ferrum, Clifton Sloan, Roanoke; her sisters and brother-in-law, Lois Hurst and husband, Ross, Rocky Mount, Hilda Cole, Roanoke; her grandchildren, Kimberley Michelle Smith, Cameron Stephen Smith and Mark Shanon Smith. A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 1996, at Lotz Roanoke Chapel with Dr. Daniel Scott officiating. Internment will be private.
