          plays a game of river fetch with his dog Kudra Monday morning along 
          banks of the New River near the Dedmon Center in Radford. Layman, an
          English major, brought his dog down to play in the river as he 
          usually does despite the high water Monday. Recent rains have raised
          the level of the river and increased the speed of the currents.
