FOAM PRODUCTS will be made for Rubatex until assets are moved to a North Carolina plant.
RBX Corp. of Roanoke County said Tuesday that it has completed its purchase of the assets of the Ensolite division of Uniroyal Technology Corp. of Sarasota, Fla.
Ensolite makes closed-cell foam rubber and plastic sheeting products similar to those made by Rubatex, an RBX subsidiary, which operates a plant in Bedford. Ensolite's foam products are used in such things as pool floats, life jackets, athletic equipment, artificial turf underlayment, gym mats and automotive gaskets.
RBX said Ensolite will continue to make foam products for Rubatex until its assets can be moved to Rubatex's plant in Conover, N.C.
The deal includes Ensolite's machinery and customers but no real estate or employees, Rubatex spokesman Jerry Kirschke said when it was announced in February. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
RBX is owned by American Industrial Partners, an investment company based in San Francisco and New York.
Both RBX and Rubatex are based at the Valleypointe business park in northeast Roanoke County.
Rubatex operates a plant in Colt, Ark., in addition to facilities in Bedford and Conover.
