NAMES ON CAMPUS

Derek Bobbit of Riner has been selected as a member of the Freed-Hardeman University Student-Alumni Association for the next school year. Bobbit, who will be a sophomore, is studying music education. In addition, he is a member of Chi Beta Chi and will be an assistant Interface leader, an orientation group. This past school year, he was a member of Makin' Music cast, "Can You Imagine," and a member of the University Chorus.

A 1995 graduate of Auburn High School, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bobbit.

Three area students who attend and recently graduated Virginia Tech were selected in the spring to the 1995-96 Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

Julie Ohm of Blacksburg received a degree in family and child development. She was a member of Golden Key Honor Society, the Asian American Student Union and the Korean Campus Crusades for Christ. She also was a recipient of several awards and was been named to the dean's list. She is the daughter of Dal Yong and Juok Sandy Ohm of Blacksburg.

Maurine Shields of Blacksburg received a degree in biology. She was involved with the Student Government Association, Delta Zeta sorority, the Spanish Club and Phi Sigma biology honor society. She also was recipient of several awards, including the Officer's Wives Scholarship and the Association of the U.S. Army Scholarship.

Christiansburg resident Scot Habeeb received a degree in history. While in school, he was a special education instructor in Montgomery County, head coach of the girls' tennis team at Christiansburg High School and served as an assistant football coach at Christiansburg Middle School. He is the son of Kathleen and E.D. Habeeb of Christiansburg.

Two Pearisburg residents recently graduated from Campbell University in North Carolina.

Rebecca R. Rader received a bachelor's of science degree and Nancy K. Wilkinson received a juris doctor.

Several New River Valley residents are among the 49 students who recently received scholarships from New River Community College Educational Foundation. The foundation awards scholarships of up to $1,000 to qualified students. The scholarships will be used for the 1996-97 academic year. Receiving awards are:

Ritajean Robinson of Blacksburg received a career studies certificate from John Tyler Community College in Chester.
