NRCC ENROLLMENT TOPS 5,700

More than 5,700 students attended at least one credit class during the 1995-96 academic year at New River Community College. The enrollment surpasses 1994-95's total by 614 students representing an increase of 12 percent.

At any time during the fall or spring semester, the enrollment averaged between 3,500 and 3,600 students.

About four-fifths of the 1995-96 student body were day students. Females accounted for 53 percent of the headcount enrollment, and males, 47 percent. One-third of the students reside in Montgomery County and about one-fifth of total students enrolled came from Pulaski Counties with the rest of the students from Giles, Floyd, Radford and other regions.

Also, nearly one-third of the students were over 34 years of age, the largest number of adult students served by NRCC.
