The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting to vote on the proposed "smart" road at 7 p.m. Monday at the Christiansburg High School auditorium.
The meeting was switched from June 24, the date supervisors had decided on earlier this week, because one of the board members could not attend then.
The board was set to vote this week on the Virginia Department of Transportation's request to remove about 140 acres from an agricultural and forestal district to build the smart road. Fearing a 3-3 tie, the vote was delayed because Supervisor Mary Biggs could not attend that meeting.
A 30-minute public address period will be held before the board votes on VDOT's request. Two things could happen Monday after the public address: the board could approve the request, or it could find that the request "might" have an adverse impact on the county's agricultural and forestal district policy and extend the review period another 60 days so a formal public hearing can be held.
