WORK STARTS ON TRIM-PLANT BUILDING

A 55,000-square-foot industry will be the first new manufacturing facility to be located in the Dublin Industrial Park.

Representatives of ASC Inc., a supplier of trim parts to the nearby Volvo-GM Heavy Truck Corp. plant, broke ground for the plant Thursday afternoon. For about three years, ASC has rented 25,000 square feet of space from the town of Dublin in the park's existing warehouse buildings.

Plant manager Thomas John also accepted an ISO-9002 certificate signifying that the plant met Volvo production standards stemming from a Volvo inspection last May.

Scott Mowry, ASC vice president for truck trim, said the credit goes to the some 35 employees that ASC has at its Dublin operation. John agreed. "They are very quality-conscious," he said.

Dublin Mayor Benny Keister said this first new manufacturing building will join the first commercial building, a branch of the First National Bank of Christiansburg, which is under way in what will be known as the Dublin Town Center. The town also received bids Thursday for construction of a new municipal building there.
