Optical Cable Corp. said it plans a major announcement Monday, expected to be about a contract with a customer in the Orient. The announcement is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the company's headquarters in Valleypoint business park in Roanoke County.
The company manufactures a high quality fiber-optic cable with both indoor and outdoor applications. Optical Cable has drawn national attention since a run-up in the trading price of its common stock. The company first offered stock to the public in March.
Bob Kopstein, president and CEO, declined to comment on the nature of the announcement. But he is expected to be joined by two Optical Cable sales executives, one responsible for the company's contracts in the Orient, lending to speculation that the announcement has to do with a major new contract in that part of the world. -Staff report
