SALEM'S MILLION ADDED TO ALL-STARS

Salem Avalanche pitcher Doug Million was added to the Carolina League All-Star team Friday and will play in Tuesday's Carolina League-California League game in Ranch Cucamonga, Calif.

Million, who was not originally named to the squad selected by the managers, executives and media, was added after a spot opened when Lynchburg pitcher Jimmy Anderson was promoted to the Class AA Carolina Mudcats.

Million, a 6-foot-3 left-hander, is 5-4 with a 2.14 ERA for Salem. His ERA ranks second in the league only to that of Anderson, who had a 1.93 ERA when he was called up.

Million, the Colorado Rockies' No.1 draft choice in 1994, leads the Carolina League in innings pitched (84) and walks (43) and is fourth in strikeouts (81). |- Staff report
