BYRD, Eugenia White, 86, of Lynchburg, formerly of Roanoke, died Friday, June 14, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy W. Byrd, Sr., her parents, L. Gordon and Caroline ``Carrie"" White, and three sisters, Lucille White Aylor, Hope White Slate and Kate White Hayton. Survivors include two sons, Guy W. Byrd, Jr., Roanoke and E. Gordon Byrd, Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, L. Gordon White, Waynesboro, Dr. William C. White, Warrington, Fla.; three grandchildren, Guy W. Byrd III, Melissa Ormsby Byrd and Samuel Llewellyn Byrd. Mrs. Byrd was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Episcopal Church, Scottsville, with the Rev. Dr. Edwin Pippin officiating. Interment will follow at Scottsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottsville, Sunday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of one's choice.

CARTER, Theodore, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, June 15, 1996. Arrangements by Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.

CATRON, Dora Fralin, 93, of the Richfield Nursing Center, Salem, formerly of Bonsack, died Saturday, June 15, 1996. She was the widow of Wiley P. Catron and a member of the Bonsack Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Ralph L. Dent, Sr. Forest; grandson, Robert L. Dent, Jr., Seal Beach, Calif.; stepson, Jack P. Catron, Roanoke; stepgranddaughter, Mrs. Linda Sue Lewis, Atlanta, Ga.; stepgrandson, James Whitley, Roanoke. CRAFT, Marion E., 74, of New Castle, formerly of Clifton Forge, died Thursday, June 13, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charle s E. (``Keaton"") Craft; her parents, Thomas and Annie Jones; her mother-in-law, Artha Craft, and her very dear, longtime friend and father-in-law, Chester (``Pats"") Craft. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Carol and Grover Persinger of Manvel, Texas, and Cindy and Monty Green of Pottsboro, Texas; a sister, Ruth Wade of Richmond, and three grandchildren, David Wayne Unroe and wife Anita, and AmiJo Hale and husband Brian of Clifton Forge, and Eric P. Bostic of New Castle. In addition, she has six lively and lovely great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a friend to all and a wonderful mom and ``Gonny."" Her life was a testimony of her love. She will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be at Boitnott Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, with interment in Huffman Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

CRAIG, Edward Opal, 79, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, June 13, 1996. He was a member of Edgewood Christian Church and a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Craig was a former employee of Allied Chemical Company and was a member of the Pulaski Rescue Squad. He was preceded in death by his son, Harold M. Craig. He is survived b y his wife, Eleanor Craig; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward F. and Jan Craig, Billy D. and Kathy Craig, Dee W. and Ann Craig; daughters and sons-in-law, Nita and Joe Serdich, Sherry and James Rucker; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Trula Aust. FORD, Helen Dutton, 86, of Marion, widow of Herman Carl Ford, died Saturday, June 15, 1996 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tenn. Mrs. Ford was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marion. She is survived by her son, Donald Ford, Bluefield, Va.; four grandchildren, Donna Webb, Bluefield, Va., Betsy Porter, Fairfax, Michael Ford, Marion and Phil Ford, Richmond; six great-grandchildren. HODGES, Beulah Huffman, 81, of Salem, died Friday, June 14, 1996 at Camelot Hall, Salem. She is survived by one brother, Richard Huffman, Waterbury, Conn. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Monday, June 17, 1996 at 10 a.m. in the Lotz Salem Chapel, with the Rev. Billy G. White Jr. officiating. Interment in Sherwood Memorial Park. HOLLAND, Leonard Cecil, 85, of Roanoke, died Friday, June 14, 1996 at his residence. Mr. Holland was a retired foreman in the Welding Shop of Norfolk & Western Railway, with over 40 years service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Walters Holland and is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Darlene Holland, Roanoke; a grandson, Dwight A. Holland, Roanoke; granddaughter and her husband, Susan H. Hasheminejad and Hameed, Catawba; a special little friend, Evan Motley; also many good neighbors. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel, Monday, June 17, 1996 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William Doss and the Rev. Philip Motley officiating. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. HUFFMAN, Trudy Turner, 45, of Narrows, died Saturday morning, June 15, 1996, in the Giles Memorial Hospital at Pearisburg, Va. She was born in Pulaski, Va. on August 8, 1950. She was preceded in death by her mother, Becky Turner and a brother, William J. Turner, Jr. She was a Laboratory Technician at the Hoechst/Celanese Fibers Company Plant at Narrows, Va. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Narrows and was a member of the American Legion Post #68 Auxiliary in Narrows, Va. and a graduate of Narrows High School, Class of 1968. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Bill and Billie Sue Turner, Narrows; her husband, Jerry A. Huffman, Narrows; a son and his wife, Jerry and Amy J. Huffman, Cheyenne, Wyoming; a daughter, Heather D. Huffman, Narrows; a brother and his wife, Joe and Sharon Turner, Bluefield, Va.; special cousins, Patti, Karen, Terry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Pat Mullins, Pearisburg, John and Judy Huffman, Salem, Ron and Winona Huffman, Wilson, N.C.; and special friends, Carlton and Sylvia Gurley, Chase City; and many other friends too numerous to name. JONES, Carl Rudolph, (``Rudie""), 61, of Radford, died Friday, June 14, 1996, in a Radford hospital. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was preceded in death by a son, Blair Jones; his father, Carl S. Jones. Surviving are his wife, Peggy Gordon Jones, Radford; a daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Allen McMillan, Dublin; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel and Tiny Jones, Christiansburg, Gordon B. Jones, Carl Jamie Jones, both of Radford; his mother, Minnie H. Jones, Radford; two brothers, Norman Dean Jones, Radford, Willard G. Jones, Dublin; a sister, Minnie G. Carper, Radford; two grandchildren, Mallory and Patrick McMillan; one stepgranddaughter; one stepgreat-grandchild; a special girl, Staci Dickerson. LARSON, Hilda F., 81, of Roanoke, died Saturday, June 15, 1996. She was the widow of Fred S. Larson, and also was preceded in death by a brother, Eldridge E. Feagans Jr., and a sister, Evelyn Rector. She was a retired Registered Nurse from the Roanoke City Health Department, a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church and the Thursday Mo rning Music Club, and a graduate of Duke University. She is survived by a brother, Col. William C. Feagans (U. S. Army, Ret.) of Hopewell; a sister, Mrs. James (Mildred) Rector of South Charleston, W.Va., and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be at the graveside at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 1996, in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday, June 17. MANN, Opal Snider, of New Castle, died Friday, June 14, 1996, at her home. She is survived by two brothers, Ray Snider of New Castle and Burman Snider of Roanoke. MARTIN, Ruth Crawford, 92, of 2625 Mountain Pass Road, Troutville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 14, 1996. She was the widow of Cline H. Martin, and was a member of Glade Creek Lutheran Church. She is survived by one son, William L. Ma rtin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Naomi and Boyd Ayers, Vera and Robert Dudding, all of Troutville, and JoAnn and Tom Cook of Montvale; one brother, Clarence E. Crawford of Troutville; one sister, Virginia C. Powell of Roanoke; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. WELCH, Geneva, 67, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, June 15, 1996. Survivors include two brothers, Frank E. Welch and Roy Welch of Washington, D.C.; two devoted nieces, Silverine Clay of Stafford and Gertrude Lewis of Roanoke, and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. WILSON, Ethel Ferris, 84, of Roanoke, formerly of Floyd County, died Saturday, June 15, 1996. She was loved by all of her family, friends, and neighbors, and was preceded in death by her husband, James L. (Jim) Wilson. Mrs. Wilson wa s a long-time member of Copper Hill Church of the Brethren. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James Wayne (Mike) and Peggy Ann Wilson, Wirtz, Paul Lane (Pat) and Peggy Ann Wilson, Boones Mill; two daughters, Agnes Church and Phyllis Barkhimer, both of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Betty Jane Brown, Vivian Conner, Rebecca Keenan, Vaughan Ferris, all of Roanoke, Ilene Altice, Norfolk.
