``Fort Days at Explore,'' re-enactments of the French and Indian War battle over Fort Vause, will be held Saturday and Sunday at Virginia's Explore Park in Roanoke County near the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Battle re-enactments and military encampments will give a sense of how people lived in the Roanoke Valley in the 1700s.
Demonstrations, children in period clothing playing Colonial-period games and storekeepers selling handcrafted items will add to the living history weekend.
Ceremonies at 1 p.m. on both days will feature a dramatic reading and memorial service to tell the story of the attack and fall of Fort Vause, once located in the Shawsville area.
A colonial worship service will be held June 23 before the dramatic reading.
Special admission for Fort Days is $6 for adults, $4 for students. Children under six are free.
