ALTICE, Elva Marie, 60, of 216 Cardinal Ri dge Dr., Rocky Mount, died Monday, June 17,1996 at her residence. Surviving are her husband, Eldridge R. (Bozo) Altice; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Leon Wagoner, Ferrum; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Eldridge A. (Sonny) and Deborah Altice, Kenny Altice, all of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Sherry Overfelt, Craig Hodges, Dustin Carter, Jessica Altice, Neil Altice; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Polly and Jack Beard, Catawba, Vernie Wray, Roanoke, Peggy and Jimmy Garman, Catawba; brother and sister-in-law, Carnell and Hazel Moore, Palm Beach, Fla.; special friends, Eveline Altice, Earline Callahan. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel, 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Harold Morris and the Rev. Curtis English officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. BRATTON, George Hartzell, 72, of Roanoke, died Sunday, June 16, 1996. He was a member of Vinton Church of the Brethren. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. Mr. Bratton was preceded in death by his parents, George Robert Bratton and Sudie Gibbs Bratton and is survived by his wife, Betty Slocum Bratton; his daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and David Atkins, Salem, Wanda and Danny Shirah, Kings Mountain, N.C., Tresa Hall, Bedford; his sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Patti Bratton, Va. Beach, Chris and GiGi Hall, Roanoke, Brent Bratton, Roanoke; his brother, Harry Bratton, Roanoke; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his special friends, Sak and Vickie Vilaysouk and Si and Mycam Tran. CLEMENT, Edith Thomas, 81, of Doraville, Ga., died Monday, June 7, 1996. Mrs. Clement was a long-time member of Doraville First Baptist Church, a member of various Bowling Leagues and was active in the church choir. Mrs. Clement is survived by her husband, R. E. Clement of Doraville; daughters, Phillis C. Sims of Duluth, Ga. and Marilyn C. Epps of Alpharetta, Ga.; son, Jerry M. Clement of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Mattie Siegle of Raleigh, N.C., Willie Mae Clement of Atlanta, Ga., Florence Francisco of Roanoke; brothers, Leonard E. Thomas of Salem; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 1996, at Doraville First Baptist Church, with the Rev. GARRETT, Philip David, 69, of Salem, died Monday, June 17, 1996 in the VA Medical Center, Salem. He is survived by a daughter, Debra Clifton; grandson, Terry Sensel both of Botetourt Co.; sister, Elscenda Shepherd; brother and sister-in-law, Harold (Gob) and Phyllis Garrett; brother, Garland Garrett all of Salem; several nieces and nephews. HAMILTON, James Edward Jr., 20, of Meadows of Dan, passed away Sunday, June 16, 1996, in a Roanoke hospital. HARRISON, Ella, 59, of Draper, passed away Sunday, June 16, 1996, in Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born October 1, 1936. Mrs. Harrison was a member of the Round Knob Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her father, Thornton Beasley; and brother, Forest Beasley. She is survived by her husband, James Lonnie Harrison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Drema and Frank Fender of Draper, Tammy and Mark Mabry of Max Meadows; mother, Bertha Beasley of Austinville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Euna Fae and Bud Newman of Austinville, Anne Mae and James Bolen of Austinville, Linda Lou and Lee Edmonds of Woodlawn; special granddaughter, Ashley Mabry. HUESTIS, John Eugene, 70, of Copper Hill, passed away Monday, June 17, 1996, at the Virginia Veterans Care Center, Salem. Surviving are four daughters, Patricia Allene Lord, Tampa, Fla., Nancy Culpepper, Catawba, N.C., Marcia Cox-Barry, Copper Hill, Gail Briant, Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; brother, Thomas Sheridan Huestis, Alexandria; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. MONROE, Louis Henry, 64, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, June 17, 1996, in the V.A. Medical Center in Salem. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Willis and Louise Monroe, Lynwood and Barbara Monroe; one aunt, Mrs. Virginia Monroe West, all of Roanoke; one uncle, Mr. Walter (Ben) Monroe, of New York; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. SEALE , Charles Marshall Jr., (``Charlie''), 47, of Vinton, died Monday, June 17, 1996, at his home. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Seale; and his father, Charles Marshall Seale Sr. Mr. Seale was a graduate of National Business College, former employee of Matthews and Boucher, Inc. He coached youth sports for Williamson Road Recreation Club and was their Athletic Director for a number of years, and was former treasurer of William Byrd Football Boosters Club. Surviving are three sons, Charles E. ``Chuck'' Seale, Roanoke, Anthony L. ``Tony'' Seale, and Matthew M. ``Matt'' Seale, both of Vinton; his mother, Thelma Tinder Seale, Culpeper; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda M. and Jeb Stewart, Waldorf, Md.; granddaughters, Jodi Dagan, Roanoke, Amanda Seale, Vinton; nephew, Brian Patrick Stewart. SHORTRIDGE, Stanley, 86, of Mays Street, Lebanon, formerly of Rowe, passed away Sunday, June 16, 1996, in a Lebanon hospital. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Shortridge; one sister; and five brothers. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Helton Shortridge of the home; one daughter, Barbara Shortridge of Roanoke; two sons, Harless Shortridge of Roanoke, and Hartford Shortridge of Rowe; one stepdaughter, Joyce Wilmouth of Lebanon; four stepsons, Ancil Helton of Manassas, Denver Helton of Culpeper, Rev. C. B. Helton of Lebanon, Virginia and Michael Helton of Harrisonburg; three sisters, Edna Fuller and Oakley Sloane, both of Vansant, and Violet Street of Pocahontas; one brother, Carter Shortridge of Lebanon; five grandchildren; eleven stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. SHREWSBERRY, Madge Kilgore, (``Nell""), 73, of Friendship Health Care Center, Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, June 16, 1996. She was the widow of Emerson ``Doc"" Shrewsberry, and a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews, including John and Nancy Sturgill, Ron and Mary Louise Sturgill, Pat and Danny Donahue, all of Roanoke.
