BROTHER FINDS BODY IN 3-WHEELER WRECK

A Franklin County man missing for two days was found dead in a creek Monday near Ferrum, apparently the victim of an accident on a three-wheel all-terrain vehicle.

The body of Thomas Keith Bouchard, 18, was discovered by his brother, Don Allen, shortly before noon, according to state Trooper Kermit Johnson.

Bouchard was lying face-down in a small creek off Virginia 767. The three-wheeler he was riding was on top of him, Johnson said.

Johnson said a plastic, 20-ounce Dr Pepper bottle half-filled with moonshine was found inside a storage compartment on the three-wheeler.

An autopsy is being conducted, Johnson said.

Bouchard was reported missing early Sunday by family members.

Bouchard was lying face down in the small creek off Virginia 767. A three-wheel all-terrain vehicle he was riding was on top of him, Johnson said.

He was last seen about 1 p.m. Saturday at a neighbor's house, not far from where his body was found.

Johnson said Bouchard, while traveling on 767, lost control of the three-wheeler in a curve and it tumbled over a 10-foot embankment into the creek.

The search for Bouchard - which included the use of a state police helicopter and a specially designed truck that will travel on railroad tracks - began early Sunday.

Bouchard recently returned to Franklin County, where he spent the first 10 years of his life. He had been living with his adoptive mother in Hampton, Va., according to Lt. Charles Wagner of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

Bouchard was employed by Trees Inc., a Franklin County business that clears road rights of way for the Virginia Department of Transportation.
