Advantage Marine in Roanoke sold

Advantage Marine, a boat dealer at 1212 Campbell Ave. S.E., has been sold to Leonard Morris, retired chief financial officer for Scott Insurance Inc. in Lynchburg, and Willie Morris of The Morris Corp., founder and president of Blue Ridge Anesthesia and Critical Care Inc. from 1986 to 1994.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed, said William C. Bundy of Bundy and Co., a business brokerage firm, who handled the transaction with associate John Lee.

Bundy, who represented the sellers - Mike Fielder and Sonny Conner - said they will remain with the business as consultants after the closing.

Advantage Marine, founded in 1989, has seven full-time employees. It sells and services Fisher, Chaparral and Pro-Craft boats, as well as Mercury engines, and carries boating accessories. -Staff report Jury socks Chrysler with $8.5 million bill

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A jury has ordered Chrysler to pay $8.4 million to the family of a 38-year-old woman who died in a collision involving a Jeep.

``I was shocked to tell you the truth - and glad,'' Jerry Van Eizenga, husband of the victim, said Wednesday, a day after the verdict by a Kent County jury.

Chrysler said it would appeal.

The accident happened April 24, 1992. When a car in front of her swerved, Patricia Van Eizenga slowed her Oldsmobile sedan and was struck from behind. The impact pushed her car into the path of a truck, which killed her.

Her husband sued Chrysler because the chain of events began when a trailer hitched to a Jeep broke loose.

Chrysler said the vehicle had been equipped with a proper towing hitch, but it had been replaced with another bumper and hitch by a previous owner. The jury, however, said the Jeep's design was at fault. -Associated Press
