HUNT, Norma Preston, 86, of Vinton, died Thursday, June 20, 1996. She was a member of Vinton Baptist Church. Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Hunt, and her daughter, Gloria Benson. Surviving are a daught er and son-in-law, Dorothy H. and W. Earl Williams, Blue Ridge; two grandchildren, Terry Benson and wife, Peggy, Holts Summit, Missouri, and Sheryl Beatty, Spring, Texas; stepgrandson, John D. Williams and wife, Margo and their two daughters, Roanoke; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Vinton Chapel 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 1996 with Dr. William L. Ross and Rev. Phillip Ayers officiating. A graveside service and interment will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood Cemetery, Mexico, Missouri. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Vinton Baptist Church, Glade Creek Baptist Church, or your favorite charity. McKINNEY, James Garfield, (``Sonny''), 61, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 1996, in a Roanoke hospital. He was born in Lynchburg on May 8, 1935, a son of the late James G. McKinney and Maxine Tyree Raasch, who survives. He was an employee of Frank Chervan, and a member of New Tabernacle Baptist Church. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Margaret Leebrick McKinney; his stepfather, Lewis Raasch, Forest; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy T. and Fred Croft, Bedford; two sons, Ray Tyree, Augusta, Ga., Jeff McKinney, Roanoke; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Debbie Tyree and Tony and Sharon McKinney, all of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special aunt, Gin Mays of Lynchburg. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 22, 1996, at 11 a.m. from the New Tabernacle Baptist Church by Revs. Floyd Gross, Joe Thompson, and Charles Stinson, with interment in Suck Spring Church Cemetery. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Alberta Moore, sisters, Edith Amos and Viola Clemons, and a brother, Edward Moore. MOORE, Helen Hancock, 78, of Wytheville, died Thursday, June 20, 1996, at her residence. She was the widow of Woodrow Wilson ``W. W.'' Moore, and was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, Edgar W. ``Eddie'' Moore of Wytheville; two sisters, Rachel Via of Fieldale, Bea Hayslett of Chesapeake. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 23, 1996, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Grubb Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Charles Burnett and Rev. Michael Barnard, with the interment in the Mt. THORNTON, Calvin, 70, of Cooks Run Road, Lindside, W.Va., died Thursday, June 20, 1996, at his home. Born January 11, 1926, at Orchard, he was the son of the late Luke and Lula Vienna Harvey Thornton. Mr. Thornton was a retired employee of the Hoechst-Celanese Corp., and a member of the Lindside United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by one grandchild; two aunts; and one uncle. He is survived by his wife, Atchie Clark Thornton of the home; two daughters, Lula ""Lu'' Palmer and her husband, Roger, of Christiansburg, Sandra Martin and her husband, Tony, of Pearisburg; four sons, Scott Thornton and his wife, Linda, of Greenville, W.Va., Charles Thornton and his wife, Cindy, of Painesville, Ohio, Richard ``Rick'' Thornton and his wife, Betty, of Baltimore, Md., John Thornton and his wife, Dottie of Pembroke; four sisters, Josephine Chapman and Geraldine Vass, both of Covington, Lennie Roles of Greenville, W.Va., and Lilly Wickline of Princeton, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 1996, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown with Rev.
