The Roanoke RiverDawgs scored four goals in the first 15 minutes of play Friday night to defeat South Florida 6-2 in a United Systems of Interregional Soccer Leagues game at Cave Spring Junior High School.
Ian Spooner and Patrick McSorley had two goals each for the RiverDawgs (5-2), who won their fourth consecutive game. Waughn Hughes and Michael Dunne added the other Roanoke goals.
Spooner scored in the first two minutes of play, heading in a corner kick by Greg Wheaton. Spooner got his second goal eight minutes later off a pass from Nathan Fairchild.
``We had a great first 15 minutes,'' said Ed McMichael, Roanoke's coach. ``Our intensity level seemed to drop because of the four early goals, but we showed flashes of brilliance throughout the game.''
Sascha Drouin earned the victory in goal for the RiverDawgs, making three saves.

For the second consecutive year, Roanoke's Jason Orlando finished second at the Spotswood Country Club Junior Invitational golf tournament in Harrisonburg.
Orlando, who will be a senior in the fall at Northside High School, finished at 9-over-par 150 for the two-round event. Cameron Yancey won the title with a 146 total.
