Troy Glaus homered, doubled twice and drove in three runs as the U.S. national baseball team extended its winning streak to 33 games with a 5-1 victory over Japan on Friday night in a pre-Olympic exhibition.
Glaus has six hits and seven RBI in his past seven at-bats. In his past seven games, the designated hitter from UCLA is 13-for-21 with 12 RBI.
Virginia standout Seth Greisinger (3-0), who was drafted sixth overall by Detroit this month, held the Japanese to two hits and an unearned run in 61/3 innings. He walked six and struck out five.
The U.S. team scored in the second on doubles by Travis Lee and Glaus, and added a run in the third when Warren Morris singled and eventually scored on a fielder's choice by Lee. Glaus made it 3-0 in the fourth with a solo homer to center field.
The 25-man U.S. roster for the Atlanta Olympics must be trimmed to 20 by July 5.
