BARGER, Bondeen Manning, 67, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Barger, an infant son, her mother, Pearl Manning Craighead, and father, Oliver Manning, a sister, Cammie Manning; brothers, Herbert, Cleveland and Benny Manning; and a special nephew, Roger Manning. Surviving family include a stepmother, Nellie Manning of Bent Mountain; sisters, Kathryn and her husband Junior Sowers of Floyd, Linda and husband Tom Iddings of Bent Mountain; brothers and sister-in-law, Melvin and Julie Manning of Salem, Calvin Manning ; and a friend, June Grable, of Roanoke; brothers, Oliver Manning Jr. of Roanoke, Paul, Bobby, Henry, Larry and Michael Manning all of Bent Mtn., Rocky Manning of North Carolina, Terry Manning of Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Glenna Manning of Salem, and Sarah Carter of Roanoke; numerous NIeces and nephews; special nieces and their husbands, Debbie and John Morris, Patsy and R. CARTER, Alex Renfrue Sr., 84, of 1015 West View Drive, Lynchburg, died Saturday, June 22, 1996, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Amelia Goode Carter. Born, January 1, 1912, in Huddleston, he was the son of the late Admire Leander Carter and Vera Mitchell Carter. A graduate of the Oxford Business Institute, he was a Special Sales Agent of Paul Revere Life Insurance Company, and an Honorary Mason in Marshall Lodge #39 AF&AM and Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons #60. Mr. Carter was also a member of Lynchburg Shrine Club, Kazim Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Fort Hill United Methodist Church and A.G. Jefferson Bible Class. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sue Carter Lineberry and her husband Larry of Canton, Ohio; two sons, Alex Renfrue Carter, Jr. and his wife, Ann of Anchorage, Alaska and Thomas Goode Carter and his wife Cathy, of Lynchburg; a brother, Richard Admire Carter, of Altavista; a sister, Carlie Carter English, of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Lisa Lineberry Moser and her husband Don, of Raleigh, N.C. and Larry Lineberry, III and his wife, Lee Ann of Winchester and five great-grandchildren: Kara Whitney Moser, Joshua Dylan Moser, Alyssa Wynn Moser, Erik Blake Lineberry and Kelly Ann Lineberry. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Fort Hill United Methodist Church, Lynchburg, by the Rev. John Siegle, burial will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. DUNFORD, Hattie Marie, 86, of Newport, Va., di ed suddenly at her home Friday evening June 21, 1996. Born in Summers Co., W.Va, on Sept. 5, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Julius C. and Lydia M. Weatherford Anderson. She devoted the time and talents of her life to making a home for her family and shared her Christian Faith in the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Thomas Lilly, and two daughters, Mae Dunford and Frances Lilly. Surviving are her husband Roy H. Dunford; one son and daughter-in-law, James Franklin and Susanna Stowers Lilly of Newport: a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Gale D. and Ralph Willlams of Pembroke; four grandchildren, Autumn H. Lilly, John Dunford, Thomas Dunford, James Williams; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nannie Anderson of Christiansburg, Va., and Alice Mainhart of Baltimore, Md. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke, Va.. Burial will be in the Rocky Mount Cemetery at Lerona, W.Va. FOSTER, Louvenia P., 88, of Parrott, died Friday, June 21, 1996 in a Blacksburg nursing home. She was the widow of Garland H. Foster. HELTON, George Denton, 94, of Salem, died Friday June 21, 1996 in Lewis Gale Hospital. Born in Wa shington County and had resided in Salem since 1924. He had worked at American Visco and went on to retire from Catawba Hospital. He was a member of First Christian Church in Salem where he sung in the choir and was a former deacon. Preceded in death by his wife, Grace Duncan Helton and grandson, David. W. Willard. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Carolyn Helton, of Salem; daughters, Lillian H. Lawrence and Opal H. Willard, both of Salem, and Evelyn Mathias, of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, 1996 at the John M. Oakey and Son Chapel in Salem with the Rev. Wayne McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Margaret Howery, Salem, Myrtle Howery, Christiansburg; several nieces and nephews. SHELOR, John Kyle, (``Uncle Pete""), 95, of Catawba, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 21, 1996. He was a retired farmer and lifelong resident of Catawba. He was born November 21, 1900, to the late David H. and Louvenia E. Shelor; and is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Doris Martin Shelor; one daughter and son-in-law, Nina and McArthur Davis of New Castle; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry L. and Debbie Shelor of Catawba; his grandchildren, Lorrie Smith, Cindy Shelor, Raymond Shelor and Kenny Davis; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Smith, Ricky and Erica Davis; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 24, 1996 at 10 a.m., in the McDonald's Mill United Methodist Church in Catawba, with Pastor R. C. Wagner officiating. STEWART Donna Marie, 38, of Charlottesville died Friday, June 21, 1 996 at a local hospital following an extended and courageous struggle with breast cancer. Born Donna Marie Bailey on February 3,1958 in Alexandria, La., she was reared in Roanoke and Botetourt County, Va. She was an honors student at Lord Botetourt High School and received a B.A. in English and French from the University of Virginia in 1980. She married Herbert L. Stewart on August 16,1980. She worked as a clerk in a law office in West Palm Beach, Fla., and at night taught English as a second language to Vietnamese and Haitian refugees. After moving to Texas in 1981, she worked as a cataloguer at the Humanities Research Center at the Univ. of Texas at Austin. She received an A.A. degree in Land Surveying from Austin Community College and became one of the first female Land-Surveyors-in-Training in Texas, at Cunningham-Graves, Inc. In Austin she was a volunteer with the Zachary Scott Theater Center. After returning to Charlottesville in 1985, Donna worked as a drafter and surveyor-in-training for Kirk Hughes & Assoc. and later for Roudabush & Gale, Inc., until her retirement in 1994. Donna was active in several local organizations. She was Program Chair and then President of the Charlottesville a branch of the American Association of University Women. She was a longtime member and former Secretary of the Thomas Jefferson Civitan Club dedicated to serving children with disabilities. She was also a volunteer tutor with Literacy Volunteers of America and was involved with advocacy for breast cancer research. Donna was a rare individual who will be remembered for her warmth, her easy laugh, and her generous spirit. She leaves behind a host of friends whose love and support she held dear. She is survived by her husband, Herbert L. Stewart; her daughter, Bailey Elizabeth; her parents, Don and Lee Bowyer of Roanoke, Va.; a brother, J.R. Bailey and nephew, D.J., of Roanoke; a half-brother, Ralph Fletcher of Baton Rouge, La.; grandmothers, Ozie Bailey, of Cullman, Ala. and Lizia Holloway, of Alexandria, La.; aunts, Pat Ballard, of Roanoke, Dot Guillott and Joy Hawthorne of New Orleans, La. and Mary Runnells, of Prentiss, Miss.; uncles, Henry and Ernest Masson of Alexandria, La., Norville, Jack and Carroll Bowyer, of Roanoke and Jean Bowyer of Ft. Worth, TX.; and several cousins including Loretta Lewin of Memphis, Tenn. She is also survived by her husband's family inc luding Herbert H. and Dorothy Stewart of Boca Raton, Fla., Thomas Stewart of Delray Beach Fla., and Allison and Paul Brightly and family of Austin, Tex. She was preceded in death by a niece, Tabatha Bailey. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to all of the professionals and friends who provided help and comfort during Donna's illness. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 26 at 3:30 p.m. at the Teague Chapel, 2260 Ivy Road,
