Banks-Jenkins

Lynn Ann Jenkins and Garland Edward Banks were married May 11, 1996 in Rainbow Forest Baptist Church. Pastor Ken Butterworth officiated. A reception followed in the church fellowship hall.

Matron of honor was June Conner, sister of the bride. Bridesmaid was Selina Angle, sister of the groom.

Best man was Galen Biggs, friend of the groom. Ushers were Marshell Banks, brother of the groom, Michael Angle, brother-in-law of the groom, and Gary Conner, brother-in-law of the bride. Guestbook attendant was Brooke Mazingo.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil F. Jenkins of Natural Bridge Station. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Issac L. Banks of Stuart.

Barnhart-Quinn

Karen Lowery Quinn and George David Barnhart were married May 3, 1996, at the groom's family home in Boones Mill, Va. The service was performed by Rev. Bruce Huffman of the Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren and the couple was attended by the groom's children, Sonya and David Barnhart. After the wedding, the couple spent their honeymoon bicycling in Eastern North Carolina with friends and family. They will make their home together in Boones Mill, Salem, and at their farm in Craig County. The bride, who will use the professional name of Karen Lowery Barnhart, is employed by the Lewis-Gale Clinic and the groom is employed by VDOT.

Blanton-Willcox

Melissa Anne Willcox and John Eric Blanton were married Saturday, June 22, 1996 at six o'clock in the evening. The ceremony was held at the Virginia Tech Memorial Chapel in Blacksburg, Virginia. The Reverend William Wilson, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Virginia, officiated. The wedding reception following the ceremony was held at the Marriott in Blacksburg.

Elizabeth Willcox of Charlottesville, Virginia, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Allison Akers, Pamela Brauer, and Denise Dusenbury, all of Richmond, Virginia; Heather Plunkett of Roanoke, Virginia; Melanie Sisson of Reston, Virginia, sister of the groom; and Sarah-Anne Willcox of Fairfield, Connecticut, cousin of the bride.

Robert G. Blanton, father of the groom, was the best man. The groomsmen were David Bowen of Charlotte, North Carolina; Christopher Furr of Waynesboro, Virginia; William Johnson of Denver, Colorado; William Peebles, Jr. of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Harold Sisson, III, of Reston, Virginia, brother-in-law of the groom; and Robert Vescio of Blacksburg, Virginia.

Eric Willcox of Fairfield, Connecticut, and Peter Willcox, Jr. of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, both cousins of the bride, were readers at the ceremony. Wendi Richert of Roanoke attended the guest register. Kristin Sherburne of Blacksburg, Virginia, was the soloist.

The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Mountain Lake Hotel. The bridesmaid's luncheon was held Saturday at Donaldson Brown Hotel and Conference Center.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip G. Willcox, Jr. of Roanoke, Virginia. Melissa is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and Virginia Tech. She is an elementary teacher with Roanoke City Schools.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Blanton of Waynesboro, Virginia. John is a graduate of Waynesboro High School and Virginia Tech. He is employed by Lawrence Transportation Systems.

After a honeymoon trip to Bermuda, the newlyweds will live in Roanoke.

Boisvert-Larew

Laura Spring Larew and Robert Graham Boisvert were married April 27, 1996 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Reverend Randall Lohr officiated. A reception was held at 20 Appleton Place.

Matron of honor was Gabrielle Larew/Wallace, sister. Junior bridesmaid was Natalie Allyson Larew, niece.

The best man was George Goodell, friend. Ushers were Christian K. Larew, brother, Jerome S. Clark, cousin, and Roland Boisvert, brother.

The bride's gown was knee-length white silk. She carried a bouquet of white gardenias.

The bride is a daughter of John R. and Lillian Larew, Roanoke, Va. She is a graduate of New School for Social Research, New York City, with a Master of Science; VPI, Blacksburg; and Randolph-Macon Women's College, Lynchburg. She is employed by UVA as Director of Human Resources.

The bridegroom, son of Kathleen Mary Brown, Boston, Mass., is a graduate of Boston College, Boston, Mass. He is employed by WHSV-TV as a photo-journalist.

The newlyweds will live in Fishersville, Va. after the wedding trip to Luxor and Cairo, Egypt.

Bratton-Hawley

Greta Ann Hawley and Robert Patrick Bratton were married June 22,1996, at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Salem by Dr. Keith Johnston and the Rev. Charles Dixon. A reception was held at the American Legion Post 3 in Salem.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry C. Hawley of Salem, Va. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Bratton of Teays Valley, W. Va.

Jerri H. Barron was her sister's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mary Barron, T.J. Beason, Bethanie Bratton, Hollie H. Flynn, and Colleen Wilhelm. The junior bridesmaid was Samantha Hawley.

Robert C. Bratton was his son's best man. Groomsmen were David Barron, Steve Franzyshen, Kevin Hawley, Jason Kelley, and Ted Patrick. Junior groomsmen were Ian Davenport and Glenn Patrick. Ring bearers were Aaron Blomberg and Adam Blomberg.

A program of wedding m usic was presented by Donna Boles and Sue Lam. Soloists were Laura Hodges and H.L. Stanley.

The bride and groom each received a Chemical Engineering degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Greta is employed as a Development Engineer by Hercules Incorporated, Aqualon Division in Hopewell, Va. Bob is employed as a Production Engineer by ICI Americas, Incorporated, also in Hopewell. After a honeymoon stay in the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Midlothian, Va.

Bob and Greta would like to extend a special thanks to Delores and Vicki Daulton, and thank everyone who shared their wedding day.

Bray-Witt

Laura Kristen Witt and Steven Michael Bray were married Saturday, June 8, 1996 in North Roanoke Baptist Church. The candlelight ceremony was officiated by Pastor Dr. Darryl Crim. The reception was held at the Moody Center, Hollins College.

Honor attendants were Denise McDonald and Donna Ingram Witt, sister-in-law. Bridesmaids were Angie Adams; Melinda Hogan Dunton; Brittney Hackworth, cousin of the bride; Tiffeny Hylton; Shannon Owens Mitchell; and Patricia Reinard Scott.

Best man was Jimmy Bray, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Mark Anderson; Tim Boitnott; Jimmy Bray, Jr., b rother of the groom; Stuart Bray, brother of the groom; Brian Huffman; Brian Murray; and Brian Witt, brother of the bride.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The bride is the daughter of Gary Stewart Witt, of Salem, and Brenda Jackson Worth, of Botetourt. She is a graduate of Northside High School and Radford University. She is employed by Medeco Security Locks, Inc.

The groom is the son of Jimmy and Joy Bray, of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Northside High School and Virginia Tech. He is employed by United Parcel Service. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke after their honeymoon trip to Cancun, Mexico.

Carper-Fields

Holly Fields and Michael Harris Carper were married on Saturday, June 22, 1996 at New Castle United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Ammons and Emory Tarpley officiating. The reception was held at the home of the bride's mother, Connie Moore.

The bridal gown was a full length satin sheath overlaid in pearl applique. The jewel neckline and open arms were heavily pearled and a full flowing detachable skirt with a pearl centered bow followed. The bride was escorted by her father, Mr. Willard T. Fields, with Mrs. Tina Hannah, friend of the bride, serving as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Tammy Harden and Tory Frango, friends of the bride. Miranda Brizendine served as flowergirl. Mr. Harris Carper, father of the groom, served as best man. Robert and Richard Carper, brothers of the groom, served as groomsmen. David Fields, cousin of the bride, served as an usher.

Thanks to the attendants of flowers, programs, and guest book, Heather F. Duncan, Michelle Brizendine, and Julie Croft. Ceremony music was performed by Chad Campbell, and wedding portraits were taken by Debbie King. Bridal portraits were made by Warren Gilbert Photography. Cheatham-Thomas

Miss Stefanie Karen Thomas and Mr. Darren Edward Cheatham were united in marriage on Saturday, April 6, 1996 at Parkway Wesleyan Church in Roanoke. The ceremony was officiated by the Reverend John Ott, pastor of the bride and friend of the couple. A reception was hosted by the bride's parents following the ceremony in the the Family Life Center of the church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Thomas of Roanoke, Va. The groom is the son of Mr. David Cheatham and the late Sharon Wertz Cheatham of Roanoke, Va. The bride designated Mr. and Mrs. Jay Thomas of Salem, Va. as honorary parents. She was escorted to the altar by both her father and Jay Thomas and was given in marriage by her parents.

Matron of honor was Sherry Hale, cousin of the bride, of Bent Mountain, Va. Attendants were Jennifer Thomas, sister of the bride, Sarah Hicks, cousin of the bride, Andrea Gentry of Roanoke, Va., Rebecca Russell of Salem, Va., Amy Von DerHafer of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., all friends of the bride. Mrs. Kitura Conner of Roanoke, Va. served as guestbook attendant. Miss Kelsey Nicole Gentry of Roanoke, Va. was the flowergirl.

Best man was David Cheatham, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Jeremy Cheatham, brother of the groom, Lewis ``Ted'' Wertz, III, cousin of the groom, Todd Parsons, Jimmy Pedigo and Jason Moretz, friends of the groom, all of Roanoke, Va. Mr. Dustin Odum, cousin of the bride of Roanoke, Va. was the ringbearer.

Music was provided by Jill New, piano, and Melanie Moon, harp, with soloists, Tammy Riggs and Jennifer Brooks. Wedding director was Gary Thomas, uncle of the bride of Abingdon, Va. Photography was by Deyerle Studio of Salem, Va.

Following their honeymoon, the couple is residing in Roanoke, Va. Darren and Stefanie would like to thank all of their family and friends for joining in the celebration of their marriage.

Cockrell-Turner

Noelle Elizabeth Turner and James Randall Cockrell were married June 22 at 4:00 p.m. at the Galax First United Methodist Church. The Rev. William Wells of Gate City performed the ceremony. The reception was held at Olde Beau Golf Club, Roaring Gap, N.C.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude E. Turner of Galax. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Cockrell of Broadway.

Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a white silk dupioni gown with a chapel length train. The bodice and gore skirt were adorned with re-embroidered beaded alencon lace, and the scoop neckline, short sleeves, and hemline were outlined with scroll work soutache. Her silk dupioni headpiece, accented with beaded alencon lace nad pearls, featured a two tiered cathedral length veil. She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses, dendrobium orchids, white waxflowers and white ivy.

Diana Joyce of Dublin served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Terri VanNess of Sterling, sister of the groom; Penny Greenwood of Mr. Airy, N.C.; Lori Nolan of Arnold, Md.; Susan Phillips of Lynchburg; Katherine Bentley of Ridgefield, Conn.; and Sharon Anderson of Flower Mound, Texas, cousin of the bride.

James Cockrell, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Joseph Cavey of Owings Mills, Md.; Jeff Pelasara of Amissville; Edward Turner of Baltimore, Md., brother of the bride; William Gowin of Virginia Beach; and Brian Hayton of Leesburg.

Guest register and program attendants were Lesley and Kari Walker, nieces of the groom. The wedding was directed by Mrs. Peggy Slayton.

The bride obtained bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from Virginia Tech. She is a teacher with Warren County Public Schools in Front Royal.

The groom has a bachelor of science degree from Virginia Tech. He is employed by the Federal Government in Washington, D.C.

After a wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple will reside in Ashburn.

Davidson-Magilligan

Teresa Anne Magilligan and Seth Bane Davidson, both of Columbia, S.C., were married May 4, 1996 at First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, S.C. The 2:00 p.m. ceremony was performed by Dr. Glen Charles Knecht and was followed by a reception at the church.

The bride, daughter of Karen Stone Magilligan of Clearwater, Fl., and Joseph Edward Magilligan of Palm Harbor, Fl., earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. She works with special education students at Spring Valley High School in Columbia.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Grady Davidson of Rocky Gap, Va., earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C., and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. He is a Medicare Hearings Officer for Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

After a wedding trip to the New England states, the couple is making their home in Columbia, S.C.

Davis-McArthur

The marriage of Miss Krista Anne McArthur, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Edward Barrett, Sr. of Hanover, and the late Kenneth Dickson McArthur, Sr. of Roanoke, to Mr. Walker Keith Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Adam Moreau and the late Lee Ferguson Davis, Jr., all of Richmond, took place June 22, 1996 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Richmond, Virginia.

The Reverend Canon Robert Gunn Hetherington and the Reverend Doctor McAlister Crutchfield Marshall officiated.

Elizabeth Flippo Hutchins of New York, N.Y. was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Margaret Lindsey Alvis of Richmond, Julia Kate Harris of Charlotte, N.C., Eva Anastasia Morgan of Boston, Marsh Penn-Gaskell Powell of Richmond, Rebecca Kathryn Rice of Atlanta, Jennifer Bunn Watson of New York, and Kimberly Carol Zupko of Nashville.

Evan Raglan Davis of Bloomington, Indiana was his brother's best man. Groomsmen were Richard Edward Barrett, Jr. of Hanover and Kenneth Dickson McArthur, Jr. of Richmond, brothers of the bride; William Cameron Hope IV and McAlister Crutchfield Marshall II, both of Richmond; Michael Lewis Staunton and Joseph Mason VanName III, both of Alexandria; and John Faulconer Ware III of White Sulphur Springs, W.V.|

Kathy Dampeer and Kyle Draper were married on June 22, 1996 in Oakland Baptist Church. Rev. H. Kelly Dampeer, Sr., father of the bride, was the officiating clergyman.

Karen Mundy served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Heather Dent, Melissa Scott, Annette Vest, and Suzanne Waterstruss. The junior bridesmaid was Whitney Hedgepeth, and the flowergirl was Jessica Hedgepeth. Bobby Draper served as best man. The groomsmen were Kelly Dampeer, Greg Davis, Bryan Foster and Ric Scott. The ushers were Jeff Mundy and Brian Porter. Matthew Brown was the ringbearer. Tiffany, Tonya and Tara Haynes provided special music for the wedding. Garber-Miller

Miss Amanda Jane Miller and Mr. John Cline Garber, Jr., were married on Saturday, June 22, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. in the morning at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church in Vinton, Virginia. The Reverend William Anthony Layman performed the marriage.

The bride, escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Miller of Vinton. She graduated from the University of Virginia and will pursue her Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology at James Madison University in the fall.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cline Garber of Roanoke. Mr. Garber graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and is also a graduate of the College of Health Sciences. He is employed by Lifeline Ambulance as a paramedic.

The bride's sister, Amy Geneice Miller Frary of Roanoke, was matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Margaret Katherine Garber of Roanoke, sister of the groom; Kristen Jeannine Chabot of Great Falls, Va., Anita Suzanne Hoback of Vinton, Kearsley Anne Hinely of Charlotte, N.C., Sara Wynne Hirsch of Vienna, Va., Alaina Christine McMahon of Reston, Va., and Melinda Gail Schmidt of Alexandria, Va., friends of the bride.

George William Norris, Jr., of Richmond, Va., served the groom as best man. The scripture reader was the Reverend Judy Mills Reimer. Attending the guestbook was Susan Fifer Humbert, cousin of the groom. Program attendants were Rebecca Frances Lautz of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Lindsay Joyce White of Snellville, Georgia, cousins of the bride.

Creed F. Frazier, III was soloist. Organist, Ronn Lowe, was accompanied by Gerald Pope, trumpeter. The wedding was directed by Julie Finn of Fredericksburg, Va.

A brunch reception was held at Hunting Hills Country Club following the ceremony. After a wedding trip to Germany, Austria and The Czech Republic, the couple will reside in Roanoke, and after August 1, in Harrisonburg, Va.

Prewedding activities included a lingerie shower and luncheon hosted by Betty Jarvis, Vinton; a shower and luncheon hosted by Anne Reid, Roanoke; bachelor and bachelorette parties hosted by Bill Norris and Amy Frary; a golf tournament hosted by the fathers of the bride and groom, and a bridal luncheon at The Hotel Roanoke hosted by the bride's aunt, Ann Merritt of Homerville, Georgia. A reception in the Green Drawing Room and rehearsal dinner in The Moody Center of Hollins College were hosted by the groom's parents on Friday evening. Mary Catherine Fifer and Margaret Wheeler, aunts of the groom, hosted a poolside picnic for the groom's family on Saturday evening. Post wedding breakfasts for out of town family and friends were hosted by the grooms grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Maier Driver, and the bride's parents.

Gardner-Evans

Katherine Elaine Evans and Geoffrey Howard Gardner were married June 22, 1996, in the gardens of ``Dayspring'' home of the bride's mother. A family friend and pastor of the Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlottesville, Va., the Reverend Edward Hopkins officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Violet R. Evans of Roanoke, Virginia, and the late Irvin E. Evans, Jr. Katherine is a graduate of Hollins College and is employed by the Savannah City school system. The groom is the son of Ruth W. Gardner of Skidaway Island, Georgia, and the late Roy H. Gardner. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Mr. Gardner is employed by Moreland and Altobelli, a land acquisition and real estate appraisal firm in Savannah.

Given in marriage by her brother, Jay Vincent Evans of Roanoke, the bride's matron of honor was Kimberly Crowder-Willis of Richmond, while the duties of best man were performed by Mark Schriner of Atlanta.

A niece of the bride, Laura Katherine Evans of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, served as flower girl, and Ian Edison Evans V, brother of the flower girl, was ring bearer. Dean MacKenzie Evans of Roanoke served as usher.

Mr. and Mrs. Gardner will make their home in Savannah.

Gresham-Jackson

Chesley Suzanne Jackson and F. Van Gresham II were married June 22, 1996 at 4:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Salem, Virginia, with Reverend Thomas Joyce officiating. The reception was held at the German Club Manor in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Katy Ford, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Sherri Jackson, sister-in-law of the bride; Natalie Jackson, cousin of the bride; Heather Speakman and Jennifer Arnold, friends of the bride.

Mr. F. Van Gresham served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were Aaron and Bret Gresham, brothers of the groom; Todd Jackson, brother of the bride; Frank Thomas Jr. and Kike Morales , friends of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Jackson of Bristol, Virginia. She is a graduate of Virginia High School and Virginia Tech. She is employed by Meridium, Inc. in Roanoke, Virginia.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Van Gresham of Salem, Virginia. He is a graduate of Salem High School and Virginia Tech. He is employed by Volvo/GM Heavy Truck in Dublin, Virginia.

After a wedding cruise to the Caribbean, the couple will reside in Christiansburg, Virginia.

Hudson-Scott

Karen Annette Scott and Robert Alfred Hudson, III were united in marriage on Saturday, June 22, 1996 at the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church at a 12:00 noon ceremony. The Reverend Gordon Lee of Centennial Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ) officiated the double-ring ceremony. The bride's parents hosted a reception at Custom Catering Center following the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Allen Scott of Blacksburg, Virginia, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John David Scott, Jr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Homer Elwood Albert, all of McCoy, Va.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Alfred Hudson, Jr., and the grandson of Mrs. Thelma Harrell Hudson, all of Pulaski, Virginia, and of the late Mr. Robert Alfred Hudson, Sr.., of Pulaski; and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pershing Wolfe, of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania.

After a wedding trip to Santibel Harbor on the gulf coast of Florida, the couple will make their home in Christiansburg, Virginia.

Music by the harp and flute was provided under the direction of Debbie Davis. Mrs. Hilda Paxton sang favorite selections of the bride and groom.

The bride is the daughter of Clinton and Gloria Gerhold of Salem. The groom is the son of Marilyn and Boyd Artz Isley II also of Salem.

The bride was given in marriage by her father and mother. The matron of honor was Cristina Marie Sweiderk, sister of the bride of Herndon, Va. Boyd A. Isley II, father of the groom, served as best man.

A wedding dinner following the ceremony was held at the Waterfront Country Club.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of Salem High School and Virginia Tech University. The bride is the medical laboratory director of the Richmond Eye and Ear Hospital. The groom is president of Business Products Services, Inc. of Richmond.

The bride's gown was sweetheart styling of white Italian satin trimmed with pearls. She carried a nosegay of white and pine roses with baby's breath.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ptaschek of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and Radford University. She is employed by CIC Systems in McLean, Va.

The groom is the son of Ms. Sharon Rodier of Centreville, Va., and the late Col. Michael Rodier and Sue Meador-Rodier. He is a graduate of Fairfax High School and Virginia Tech, Blacksburg. He is employed by Lockheed Martin.

The newlyweds will live in Sterling, Virginia, after their wedding trip to Granada.

Shelton-Clinevell

Jill Renee Clinevell and Christopher Wilson Shelton were married Saturday, June 15, 1996 at Greenhill Church of the Brethren. The Reverend Michael L. Slaughter officiated the seven p.m. ceremony.

Jill is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Danny R. Clinevell of Salem. She is a graduate of Roanoke College with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Psychology. She is an elementary school teacher.

Chris is a son of Mr. Sidney Shelton of Salem, and Mrs. Sue Dugas of Troutville. He also is a graduate of Roanoke College with a Bachelor's of Business Administration degree. He is an accountant.

Amy Marie Woods and Christopher David Stump, both of Salem, served as honor attendants. Others attending the bride and groom were Brian Edward and Traci Nicole Foster of Salem, Derek Lynn Gordon of Danville, Jennifer Noel Harris of Salem, Patrick Clay Perdue of Salem, Maria Dorsett Schroeder of Brookneal, and Joseph Craig Thornsbury of Salem.

Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted an outdoor reception on the lawn at their home.

Jill and Chris will reside in Salem following a wedding trip to Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

Stephanie Leigh Reed and Robert Preston Smith, Jr. were married May 25, 1996 in North Fork Baptist Church, Blacksburg, Va. by Pastor Fred Brugger. The reception was held in the fellowship hall. Maid of honor was Maggie M. Bobbitt, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Julie D. Gardner, cousin of the bride, Melissa B. Smith, sister-in-law of the groom and Susan S. Allan, sister of the groom. Flowergirl was Samantha B. Reed, cousin of the bride. The best man was Andrew Smith, brother of the groom. Ushers were Lowell Jessee, friend of the groom, Billy Allan, brother-in-law of the groom, and Gerald S. Reed, brother of the bride. Candlelighter was Lowell Jessee. The guestbook was attended by Kellie Simpkins. The bride wore a gown of white bridal satin designed by Demetrios with a portrait neckline, decorated with re-embroidered Alencon lace. The basque waist was accente d with double tiered peplum in back and satin rosettes. The full skirt and cathedral train were edged in beaded Alencon lace and adorned with lace appliques and pearls.|

Anna Marie Light and Carson Belden Thomas were married June 22, 1996 at the Wedding Chapel by Dr. Purnette Scales. A reception followed. The maid of honor was Karen Green. Matron of honor was Anna Waltz. Bridesmaid was Rita Coe. All are best friends of the bride. Flowergirls were Brianna Young and Nikki Gibson, nieces of the groom. The bride is the daughter of Mary Keen Barnett of Cedar Bluff, Va., and the late Elmer W. Keen, and the stepdaughter of the late A. W. Barnett. The groom is the son of Josephine Tucker of Greeneville, Tenn., and the late J. N. Tucker.

Escorted to the altar by her mother, the bride wore a formal gown of white bridal satin. Laura Bays, cousin of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bridal attendants were Diane Belcher and April Street, cousins of the bride; Christy Tucker-Kelley, sister of the groom; Jan Millehan and Denyse Randazzo, friends of the bride. The flower girl was Jaclyn Finney, cousin of the bride.

Craig Humphreys, cousin of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Rick Kelley, brother-in-law of the groom; Jeff Reynolds, Boa Gordon, Alex Ghigo, and Michael Britton, all friends of the groom.

Waugh-Craft

The marriage of Miss Mary Paul Craft of Christiansburg, Virginia, to Mr. John Barron Waugh of Raleigh, North Carolina, took place on Saturday morning, June 8, 1996, at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church. Officiating at the service were the Reverend Doctor O. Leighton Culler, interim minister of the church, and the Reverend Robert Leroy Thomas of Huntington, West Virginia.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Robert Lee Craft, Jr., of Chr istiansburg, Virginia. She wore her mother's redesigned gown of candlelight satin and carried the prayer book carried by her mother and grandmother at their weddings. It was topped by a bouquet of pale peach rosebuds and baby's breath. Her fingertip-length veil was attached to an open cap covered with ivory satin rosebuds and pearls.

The bride's attendants were Miss Sarah Lindsey Dillon Craft of Dublin, Virginia, her niece, and Miss Brett Walters of Christiansburg, Virginia, niece of the groom.

The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Blair Waugh of Galax, Virginia, had his father serve as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. William R. L. Craft, III, of Dublin, Virginia, brother of the bride; Mr. Roland Evans Walters of Christiansburg, Virginia, brother-in-law of the groom; Mr. Kevin Roger Dale of Raleigh, North Carolina; and Mr. Teddy Ray Haskins of Alexandria, Virginia.

Music was provided by Mrs. Raymond Obenshain, the church organist. The guest book was attended by Miss Emily W. Stanton of Pilot, Virginia, and the bulletins were given by Mrs. William R. L. Craft, III, of Dublin, Virginia, sister-in-law of the bride. Wedding directors were Mrs. Henry Stewart and Mrs. John Sumner of Christiansburg, Virginia.

Following the wedding service, a reception was held at Lakeland, Claytor Lake.

Wirt-Hatfield

Kelley Katherine Hatfield and Anthony Dale Wirt were married June 22, 1996 at Locust Grove United Methodist Church. Reverend Mike Derflinger officiated. A reception was held in the church fellowship hall.

Jill Meacham, best friend, was matron of honor.

The groom's father, William Wirt, served as best man. Ushers were Brandon Hatfield and John Hatfield, the bride's brothers. The guestbook attendant was Michele Wirt.

The bride's gown was an off-the-shoulder, full length chiffon. She carried a bouquet of roses, hand-tied and embellished with long satin ribbons.

The bride is a daughter of Jack Hatfield of Roanoke and Sharon Rothrock of Salem. She is a graduate of Salem High School and Roanoke College. She is employed by Roanoke County Public Schools.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wirt of Salem, is a graduate of Salem High School and Roanoke College. He is employed by Salem City Public Schools.

The newlyweds will live in Salem, Va. after the wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
