STAR SOCCER TEAM 2ND IN BORDER CUP

The Under-15 Roanoke Star soccer team finished second Sunday in the Olympic Development Program Border Cup in Richmond with a 1-0 championship loss to Stafford.

The Star beat Central District 3-2 in the district division semifinal. Roanoke came from behind with goals by Nathan Thomas, Sammy Huffman and Aaron Pellitt.

The team leaves July 8 for a 21-day tour of Germany, Holland and Denmark. In Denmark, the Star will compete in the Dana Cup, a tournament of 800 teams from 47 countries.
